Well, I had read about the e-ink thing, but was wondering if it makes a big difference while reading... Guess, I need to see if I can get hold of some demo unit & take a look. But yeah, I guess maybe if you were thinking of Kindle Fire, then it might be better off to go for other Android tablets, but since you mention the Kindle Touch, maybe it does make a difference.

Now, next question - Will it not be more expensive , i.e buying ebooks on Kindle (On the other hand , you would get the book instantly & you can read on multiple devices, also hardcopy books might get damaged)

ebooks are expensive for us because books are cheaper here in india. that's why books sold in india usually have a note saying that it's for sale only in the indian subcontinent. ebooks however are portable so i wonder how long before we get a decent ebook store selling them at decent prices. i mean we pay 5-15 rupees per song on flyte. same songs are sold for around 1 dollar internationally.

Correct, But the problem with ebooks is that you can download them from anywhere & that might be a concern in getting lower prices in ebooks.

Thats true, but is music that is internationally sold at a higher price, available at a lower price here online?

mmm yeah? flipkart has tons of international content sold at 15 bucks per track or lower. you cannot find a similar deal in the states or europe 😕

Ok... Dont be surprised at my ignorance.. 😀 .. I have been out of touch with movies/music for quite some time.. All new info I get is through news sites & IBF 😀I was just wondering, since someone from say US could buy at Flipkart at lower price, or maybe I guess they block International Credit Cards.. Still NRIs could get them using local cards obtained earlier.

well... you can share your mp3s with your friends. that does not mean they have legal music? mp3s are without drm. its not how to get it, its more like who got it with documented proof. my songs are connected to my account on flipkart. that's proof that i paid for those songs.

i assumed that there are text-file-format to kindle format converters available online?
Kindlegen is free, and converts epub to mobi. For anything else, there's the personal kindle email where Amazon automatically converts the file and pushes to your Kindle.

cool. they seem to have all the models available. now the only thing is whether the hack to get around the login screen would work!

well project gutenberg has a lot of stuff. for the rest, i would have to look for alternatives. ebooks of course are pretty darn expensive i believe. i think they sell for around 10 dollars each which is pretty close to 550 bucks in INR.

That is the reason I did not go with reading ebooks on my tablet. Further I guess its easier to read book rather than ebooks in tablets...Anyways do tell me if you find a good source for ebooks which is reasonably priced, I will be interested. Did not find much in gutenberg 🙁
