Can my activity be monitored?

Hello.We recently got an Airtel 4G connection. There are 2 users here ,myself and another person.The other person uses a laptop and the 4G device(router+modem) is connected to the laptop directly via a LAN cable.I use the Wifi from the device either using a laptop or a PC(with the help of a dongle(wifi adapter)).My questions:1.Now,will the other person be able to monitor my internet activity?2.Is the other person at a level higher that me because his system is directly connected to the 4G device?I mean does he have privileges which I don't? Are we any different to the ISP?I would be extremely glad if you could explain your answers.Thank You.

1. As long as you guys aren't part of the same network, I think not. But if he can access the router, he probably could view the router logs, which most certainly would contain stuff about the places you've visited et al.2. Nope, you both are the same to the ISP, because at any given point in time, you both would be connected through the same IP. Priveleges, no.

Thank You for your reply.If there aren't any special privileges,how can he alone view router logs? Are router logs viewed by typing the ip address of the device into a web browser? (192.168....)?Can't I do that on my laptop or PC?

Yup, you can view the router logs by visiting 192.168.x.x . Infact, anyone connected to your network can.

Um,I didn't completely get the point.We have no network connections,but does the physical setup at my place,make it a network(him connected to the device directly by LAN cable and ; I, using wifi from the device using a laptop) ?If we are not in a network,there is no way for him to know my activity (except by seeing the router logs,but I can view his too). Yes, your setup can be termed a network, though I'm nou sure whether there is a way to monitor a person's activity locally apart from viewing the router logs.

Most routers don't log what you're doing (which websites you visit etc) - they're not powerful enough to handle that. They just log errors and things of that nature, such as this sampling:

However, tools such as Wireshark are designed to actively sniff the network to see exactly what you're up to. If he really wants to pore over huge amounts of data or is looking for something specific, that is.

x720,where in the browser do you see them after entering your device's ip address and logging in?

Either the administration tab or the status tab. This is for the dd wrt firmware. If you can't find the logs on your router, perhaps like mgc said, there isn't any (details of the websites you've visited 😉 )
