Any other users from Trivandrum facing consistent service outage on Reliance DTH HD DVR?

The signal strength/quality varies from 100%/88% all the way down to 0%/0% , but Reliance says its not a problem on their side.

There are occasional weather outages here, but even with clear skies, most HD channels are suffering.

CC says that no other users are reporting the issue, so it must be an issue from my side.
Also, CC says that a visit from the service engineer would cost 175/- , which may or may not solve the problem!

The best part is, on rebooting the STB, the signal is back for a short time .

So, After numerous complaints via email, facebook, and videos of their signal outage on Youtube, RDTV sends someone over to inspect the situation.

They replaced the quad LNB with a dual LNB but this did not solve the problem .

On complaining again, they send an engineer over, who did a manual scan / firmware download, and disappeared.

The problem still exists, and RDTV says it will cost 3000/- for a new STB .

The joke is, they claim that the STB belongs to them. So why should we pay 3K to replace an STB that they can re-possess if/when they choose?

If they own the STB, shouldn't they bear the charges?

how old is your connection. i assume that they should replace a defective unit if it is not more than a year old.

Its been close to 2 years, i'm sure.

However, the warranty for a replaced unit is ~3 months or so.
Almost makes more sense to ditch it and go for a new service provider.

Nice that videocon has published this info : (as confusing as it may be )

www.videocond2h.com/wsc/pdf/warranty_terms.pdf

Reliance has it in their offices, and not displayed anywhere on the website.

get a videocon connection. have the best deals available right now.

Like i said, in the other thread 🙂 ,

Videocon says, no HD DVR's are available !
