Not so much when it comes to box office. He has zero clue about how the box office works

Well he is not taran adarsh...... Actually 😛He is pretty close to judge the quality of a movie mostly........... Judging its collection at box office is not what he does.

True. Taran Adarsh is a trade analyst, not a film critic. Critics' opinions hardly matter (to me).

I am not very sure if it is the first ever zero rating. If I remember correctly he gave 0 rating and 2 thumbs down to the movie "Welcome" and that is one movie which was HILLARIOUS with multiple repeat value.

I wouldn't be surprised if he did that. He considers himself (like most other critics) to the flag bearer of 'intelligent' cinema and snubs anything that doesn't appeal to his 'senses'.

----------

FWIW, he could stick those 2 thumbs up his own.

i think there no need to be mad at a person who's job is to rate a movie according to his senses .....................he will obviously rate it according to his taste. and mostly he is right................obviously he cannot be right all the time (for all the movie goers) if u know a person who is right all the time , please introduce him/her to me.................... even i have disliked some reviews of him,for example i didnt like "ekk main ekk tuu" he gave it 3 starts i think.

your posts suggests that he should try and judge how a movie would appeal to the box office(people) and his reviews should be according to that....?????? ..........:nono:

Oh well, like I said, he can do whatever he wants. I really don't care. It is just that I can't stand prejudiced people who try to pass off as 'critics'. Even judging from a critics' standpoint, he hardly comes across as someone with enough knowledge of world cinema - not that I have any outside Hindi films either. Like it or not, box office is the true measure of how much a film has been appreciated, as it means people spent money to buy those tickets, unlike most who watch it for free in previews, or download it online.

I don't agree with the box office bit, there have been many films that were box office failures at the time of their release but later went on to gain cult status, via dvds et al.

(Poonam PandeyMore Pics)

She came second to Anna Hazare in the 'Fastest Rising People' category of the 2011 Google Zeitgeist list. And her popularity continues to soar.
Today, the 19-year-old model completed one year of existence on Twitter and the very same day, the number of her followers on the micro-blogging site crossed the 1,00,000 mark!

then dont criticize poonam pandey ever like u do..............she is gaining popularity.

and yes ra-one and ready were great too if its true what u said.

Again, come out of the online world. 1 lakh people in a country of 120 crore? Means zilch. Also, I didn't mind either of those films you mentioned. They were time pass, and I assume that's what they were meant to be. If they were meant to educate, I wasn't any wiser at the end of it.

^ please read again

"She came second to Anna Hazare in the 'Fastest Rising People' category of the 2011 Google Zeitgeist list. And her popularity continues to soar."

u need to realize about the comparisons and their basis................she came 2nd thats what counts here ( its ur type of comparison and understanding only:Shabbo🙂 nobody came 2nd to anna hazare but her...........inspite of the fact that there are 120 crore ppl in this country............she is a something ............ur theory not mine.:hopelessness:

do u have 1 lac fan following....????? are u on 'Fastest Rising People' category of the 2011 Google Zeitgeist list....?????

paise to dhande wali/wala bhi kamati hai.............demand uski bhi hoti hai...........matlab wo hit hai...... but she/he doesnt have respect.............same goes for the movie.

sorry if the language is a bit annoying.......just came in mind like that.

Guys...chill. Both of u have valid points, just that u have gone too far in trying to prove ur point! What Toocool is saying is that Rajeev most of the times gives reviews that are as per people's opinions as well. But at the same time, he isnt always right. Like i too liked the movies Welcome, Ready....so what if he gave them bad ratings! To conclude, u need not take his ratings as the final words, but u can consider it when u r deciding between few movies, and when allocating money to be spent on that movie.

I never read or bother any rating about films..I have my own taste..a movie needs to fit into it, then thats blockbuster for me.
