As far as my knowledge is concerned Hathway is providing 5.1 sound.

Thank U.Zee HD channels and M tunes providing 5.1 sound??plzz provide HD channels list of ur area.In hyd, dealer says 18 hd channels r coming.Am confused abt number.

I heard hyderabad is providing UTV stars as well. So total count as of yesterday was 17.

I have not checked Zee HD but Mtunes has 5.1 for few songs.

Here Neo Wild also added.wat about zee cinema hd and zee studio hd??I am using now ADTv HD it is giving perfect 5.1 sound.I want to change to hathway if it is giving 5.1 sound.ru using optical output? is ur home thetre showing dolby digital(original 5.1) r pcm 48 (it is HT converting 5.1)?

16 HD channels awesome man 🙂 .. wish Tata Sky can take some cue for this ... i guess with the digitization of cable from 1st july 2012 all cablewallas will overtake tatasky , dish tru etc in number of hd channels ..

I just bought Hathway HD, based on the feedback on this forum. I reside in Wadala East (Mumbai - non CAS) and I'm getting 8 HD Channels - Star Plus, Movies, World, Colors, Zee Studio, CNBC, Ten and Discovery. In the next 2 weeks, its expected to go to 14 with the addition of Star Gold, Zee, History, MTunes, Nat Geo and ESPN. Star Cricket will take time. Reason for only 8 HD channels is that, Wadala is part of the non-CAS area and some of the frequencies are used up by analog broadcasts. Hathway is freeing up a couple of frequencies in the next 2 weeks, which will then be used to broadcast more HD channels. In the CAS areas, all the HD channels are already being shown (except ESPN)My Cable guy explained that additional infrastructure is not required as the wires already support high speed data transfer in the form of Broadband Internet. They are also planning to start Video on Demand from May with the existing infrastructure.Quality of HD Channels are pretty good but quality of SD channels vary widely. HD channels have 5+1 surround sound and support Dolby. I have connected the STB directly to my Home Theater system using the short HDMI cable which was provided. HD channels are free of cost but for other channels my cable guy is charging Rs. 150 per month (which was the standard rate even before STB), which is contrary to what is mentioned on the Hathway website. Overall pretty satisfied with the purchase.

its 150rs ? localcablewallah is saying for STB 1000 bucks and every month rent is rs180 (hyderabad)
