To each his own 😉

BSNL = Good but bad service.Airtel = Good and Good Service. So Airtel is better, but depends on your preferences.

If you want continuous uptime and are willing to adjust with lower FUP plans then go for Airtel. but if you are willing to adjust with considerable amount of downtime and poor service, yet get better FUP on your plans, then go for BSNL

With BSNL, what I have observed is that as long as its working it works fine. But when it goes down, to get a guy to fix the connection is a headache and involves lot of trips to the exchange. Of course the service may be better in your area but I was posting from my experience. It once took nearly one week to get a connection back up and they didnt refund any rental amount too.Airtel OTOH responds lightning fast to downtime complaints. I have faced it twice in the last year, and it was fixed within 4 hours of the working day being started ( I complained at night 12 and they fixed it at 11 AM). They have a lot of other issues with their customer care but downtime isnt one of them

Haven't had a reason to call the customer care in three years of my using the service 😉 Except for the latency /routing issue, that said I barely have faced any downtime in the past 3 years if at all. They respond to complaints within 2 -3 hours, which imo is not bad. Hence I'd say bsnlAirtel screwed my billing multiple times, before I actually realised it 😛

Ya I guess our opinions are based on our experiences which may not be the same for everyone. My previous BSNL connection was down for a week without any guy taking ownership to fix it. Left me pretty frustrated. Have had issues with Airtel as well, but it was more to do with plan migration headaches rather than service downtime
