I purchased a D-Link GLB-502T ADSL Router from a dealer in Pune recently. Though, initialy he told me that D-Link modems have some problems and didnt suggest me that earlier. But later on he said that that was the case with duplicate DLInk modems which had flooded the market and now he has been able to get an original one. With that he sold one router to me for 3700 bucks (incl taxes). But now almost everyone tells me its almost double the market price and the price is around 2000/- only. Have I been taken for a ride? I am not disclosing the name of the dealer yet. Also i would request readers and members to please update the forum with the latest prices etc so that nobody else is duped of his hard earned money.

^ sorry for that . However I'd suggest to contact
D-Link Pune office to put a complaint against the
Dealer . There is a shortage of good quality Broadband
devices and the dealers are simply exploiting it ...

see : http://www.dlink.co.in/dlink/Contacts/branches.htm

And if you have the Bill , pls file a case in consumer court .

U can do only one thing take him to consumer court for cheating u, but dunno to what extent that will help. There is not point in compalining , cause i doubt he is a dealer. 3700 is way too high , it shouldnt cose more than 1500-1700

when i was gonna get a dataone connection, i asked around in the market for the price of a router, and i remember the D-Link one was for 1700.. dont know the model though

I got the D-Link GLB-502T for 1800/- a month ago from Lemington road, Mumbai.With bill. 🙂

Hi.. See... there are various factors inclusive in the final price. In any case it should not cross MRP written on the box. If MRP is Rs. 3700 (also check the CD/ Floppy inside for the additional D-Link price tag) then even consumer court can't do anything or for that matter your case will not have a chance to stand for the further procedure.Price varies throughout India; depending up on local taxes, octroi, VAT, etc.. There is no such concept like "Correct Price" in dealer's network. Up and Down always continues... For an end-user price range of D-Link GLB 502 should be around 1800/- (+/ - 50 Rs.) in Pune, including 4% VAT.I am a dealer myself and we charge Rs. 2000/- to our customer if he/ she wants to get it installed at their residence/ office. On the counter, price is tagged for 1850 Rs. That means we charge around 200 Rs. extra as a service charge for which the entry is shown separate on the Tax Invoice.

^ @ Mastermind , you said that end user price of D-Link 502T is less than Rs 2000/- . if a dealer (inPune) charged Rs 3700/- then is it justified ? cantwe do anything against this dealer ...

Hi seshu... For the current lot of GLB 502, MRP is 3000 Rs. and I have confirmed this with my distributor. I don't know whether the CD inside is labeled with D-Link price tag or not. But still in any case it won't cost 700 bucks. So it's sure that the guy has been cheated and thats not correct.

I would recommend to talk to this dealer first. Let him know that we can easily drag him to the consumer court. If he is not ready for the refund... well... we can file a suit against him. 100% sure.

This is what I did.. I called the dealer on phone and told him about the consumer forum thing as well as prevalent rates. Although initialy he was a little adamant but later he did agree to take it back. 🙂 so now i am a little more happy. I request members to post the prices at which they purchase the routers for all others to know ... thank you all.. 🙂

Yep!!! Kind of... I got Rs 750/- back, along with Linksys AM300 Router. Dunno whats the 'Correct Price' 😉 of this router. But I think it is better to have a Linksys AM300-in perfectly working condition (it looks way more sleek than 'dabba' look of D-Link) for 2950/- than getting stuck with DLink modem for 3700/- which dint work. 😉Yep!!!
