I know that store. I think the name of that store is Imagine.

If you do get more info about price/availability will you be kind enough to let me know about it by posting that info here or sending me an email?

Thank you so much for your time. 🙂

well you can try calling the Imagine Store!

they should have the prices till now if not the Snow Leopard update DVDs itself.

Reliance was supposed to open official Apple iStores in india. have not seen any.

i dont even see reliance digital selling apple macs.

i have to buy this update myself. but i would avoid buying it from here if the price difference is high.

would get a friend to pay for the update in the US (28 dollars is cool!). and would get the update from the torrents.

that would not be piracy in technical terminology.

i am still doubtful about the USD 100 update charge for Windows 7 from Windows Vista Home Premium. i also have a legit vista ultimate copy. upgrade fee on that is insane.

ok i have the prices now: Snow Leopard will be available as an upgrade for Mac OS X Leopard® users for Rs. 1,800 (MRP).Snow Leopard Server includes innovative new features such as Podcast Producer 2 and Mobile Access Server and is priced more affordably than ever at Rs.28,100 (MRP) with unlimited client licenses. Mac OS X version 10.6 Snow Leopard will be available as an upgrade to Mac OS X version 10.5 Leopard within four weeks through Apple Authorised Resellers. The Snow Leopard single user license will be available for a maximum retail price of Rs. 1,800 and the Snow Leopard Family Pack, a single household, five-user license, will be available for a maximum retail price of Rs. 2,900. For Tiger® users with an Intel-based Mac®, the Mac Box Set includes Mac OS X Snow Leopard, iLife® ’09 and iWork® ’09 and will be available for a maximum retail price of Rs.10,000 and a Family Pack is available for a suggested price of Rs.13,500.

Thank you for the info. The bummer is the 4-week wait.*Can I install a pirated Snow Leopard install now and then make it legit by buying the Snow Leopard DVD when it becomes available in India?Note to admin: I know this may be an inappropriate question. If it is, please edit the post to remove it. 😉

oh well. i dont think mac os x even asks for a serial number or any form of activation. so you can install snow leopard and buy the license at a later date for the sake of legality. i don't think you would need to change anything. now, i am not sure how do i go for the upgrade copy. would i have to carry some kind of a proof that i own a macbook with leopard (and not tiger).online sources have confirmed that you can install the upgrade copy just like a regular operating system. no preinstalled version is required for verification. it does not even require the leopard disc for verification (as per the articles i checked). essentially the upgrade edition and the regular edition are same. apart from the licenses they carry (upgrade vs. full). i would have to call the imagine store and check with them. do tell me how you are going to get your copy 🙂

I called up imagine and I was told it be available in 4 weeks. 4 genius minds is not picking up the phone.

I am downloading SL off link-removed right now. have not decided if I will install it or wait for the legit copy. :O

I will probably get my copy from wherever I can get it first. I have bought most of my stuff from anymac at yusuf sarai.

as long as you can ensure that the copy is genuine and not infected, i guess it would be alright to install.

i am not of course advocating piracy here. we just have to buy the license at a later stage.

it's Apple who is delaying the entire process! 😗

i can of course wait. i dont use the mac as my primary machine. i can wait till the time i get a chance to visit ansal plaza. we do have an apple store here in gurgaon. but they usually get stuff even late compared to delhi.

it was a bad experience overall. apple had reduced the prices of their ipod shuffle.

the istore in gurgaon was still selling them at the higher price. i had to go to imagine to get it at the much lower price.

later found out that even small shops in CP were selling it at updated price!

hiI just sent some emails to different shops in Delhi for details concerning Snow Leopard, only one gave answers promptly. Anymac, that's the name of the shop said they will sell Mac OS 10.6 for 1700 rupees for update and 2900 for family licences. They said also it must availlable in 15 days.....Actually I just read different advices concerning snow leopard installation, be carefull of savings u're datas....As some applications aren't yet compatible with the new system !!!!If u have some questions about that let me know and keep contact, as it's hard to meet macusers in Delhi.

i bet there are mac user groups based in delhi for sure 😀 as for my mac, i guess i would take a backup before upgrading. i do not use many third party applications. but still 😀 any idea if the shops would require some kind of a proof of leopard ownership? because i would have to carry it with me to the store.

about to proof to update, no need, no use, as I red on some us blogs, this update can be use to make update from Tiger. I just saw a facebook group of Macusers in Delhi, but still no activity since 2 years.....

I am already using Snow Leopard for the past couple of days. I downloaded it from link-removed. :O

Only Vuze, Growl and 1Password gave me trouble with Snow Leopard. I just downloaded the beta updates of these apps and they worked fine after that. 😀

I have been very happy with Snow Leopard. There is nothing to complain about. I gained 10 GB of HDD space on my Mac Mini and the system performance has definitely improved when compared to Leopard.

yeap. i have been getting a lot of PR related to Snow Leopard related updates to popular mac applications.

why using vuze instead of utorrent? 😀

Although Vuze is a memory hog, it contains several features that are unique to it like throttling of download/upload speeds for individual torrents, scheduled downloading of torrents for a particular period of time, autospeed(where the upload speed limit is constantly updated depending upon the upload speed at that particular period of time, auto-downloading of torrents from RSS feeds, IP Filters for anti-p2p, etc.

For such a rich variety of features Vuze will remain my preferred p2p client for the foreseeable future.
