OH! Most of Touch screen Samsung phones I have seen (Android/Bada/Feature phones) have this slide to unlock. Now what will happen to this?

funny thing is that they have also applied for something like face recognition unlock patent. ios does not have it. android has it.

well. i think a lot of companies already ship facial recognition unlock with windows on their machines... i have not seen face recogntional unlock on mac os x. though i have not used it much so cannot be sure. the patent is for mobiles in any case.

yes. i'vr got a facial recognition software free with my factory fitted lenovo PC.

I just returned from the Munich I Regional Court, where Presiding Judge Dr. Peter Guntz publicly announced a decision in Apple's favor: most of Motorola Mobility's products were found to infringe on Apple's slide-to-unlock image patent, EP1964022 on "unlocking a device by performing gestures on an unlock image". Today's ruling is a permanent injunction that Apple could enforce at its own risk (against a bond).

lol! Now I ll feel "special" every time I slide to unlock my iPhone!

That is the exact thing Apple want for their consumer.

Don't take it as offensive but right now (After Steve Jobs) apple has nothing to do with their technology. Even they do not able to compete with the speed of other OS because of lack of resources (Open source community has more man power for just coding then total apple have[coder+sales+....]). Secondly windows is doing good in their smart phone os. It's time for apple to think about their policy. They have to separate their OS and HW. (means Samsung HW with OS X etc.. [Like windows doing]).

Windows is doing good with their smart phone OS? their market share is still abysmal. And Apple is generating truckloads of revenues from iPhone/iPad/iTouch sales (more than entire microsoft in fact).Steve Jobs had very little to do with the actual development of technology at apple. He was just a good salesman. They'll still continue on the same development trajectory, albeit with less showmanship.
