Dear Friends, Please suggest me a good broadband 2G/3G options near Arakkonam area. About 5 kms west of Arakkonam.Dongle / USB based one for the laptop. Please advise to whom call.And another question near our house we have Vodafone tower. How to know weather it can support 2G/3G and broadband..Not in the arkonam town area. best way to check....1.wired Broadband.......go to nearest BSNL office and ask your cable TV wallah.he will know any private cable wallah provide internet2.Mobile : I doubt 3G /voda or any other operator will work. May be ArakonamDont you have 3G /smart phone.? Geta vodafone pre paid sim, put a 2G pack first and check down load speed in the phone. You should get 160-220 kbps if the tower is atleast EDGE (not GPRS ) enabled.Ask in Arakonam "all company show room /shops -3G enabled services and tower locations.

Yes Wired is the best option for you. BSNL Broadband BBG Combo ULD 1,350 is the plan suits your needs better. Unlimited 2 Mbps Upto 20 GB & 512kbps after that. Or you may check reliance broadband availability in your place. They have 1499 Unlimited plan 1 Mbps on day & 2 Mbps @ night (10 pm - 8 am) Both the plans have no FUP limit If BSNL is the only option. Get the best wireless router cum modem from the mkt. So you can share the connection for your laptop and other wifi enabled gadgets if any The vodafone tower in your place may be 3G capable. But there are no unlimited plans available in the mkt for the wireless broadband. Both in gsm and cdma. (BSNL EVDO has 750 UL Plan, But the speed is not consistent)
If you are unable to get a wired line, you will have to try out the various wireless options by trial & error. Do these operators give demos? I do not know.
Remember, wireless speeds are very dependent on the area & the number of people using the same cell tower.

Wireless can burn a hole in your pocket and speeds might not be up to the mark. Keep these two things in mind while checking out a 3G connection, 2G won't be able to meet your needs as it supports a max of 144 kbps, Bsnl and reliance have unlimited 3G plans with fup. I think bsnl has a fup of 5gb for 799 or something, reliance has something on the lines of 10gb for a higher price.
Dear All Thanks for the replies.This vilage does not have wired broadband from any of the providers except the cable TV. I will check and post more questions in a day or two.How to check wheather the nearest cellphone tower is 2G or GPRS or 3G etc.. We have a Vodafone tower i guess in that village,

You have railwire and not bsnl? Surprising, railwire has some awesome plans, no idea about reliability.
