Hi Friends,Anybody using Samsung Galaxy Ace (S5830) here..?? I am unable to upgrade firmware of my device... tried Kies many times but it's showing " This is the latest firmware" 🙁
 
Which version are you using on your Ace? I'm currently on 2.3.4 on baseband S5830DDKQ5 - it seems to be the latest and there aren't any further updates on Kies when I checked.
 
There is no official update for ace after ginger bread. But you can always root n try latest custom ICS for ace.

I have the same ver as you even though I had read reports that there will be an update to 2.3.6, it does not seem to be here yet 🙂


BTW I read reports that 2.3.6 seems to give wifi problems 2.3.6 wi-fi error - Android Forums post #4

cool, i too was checking on updates for it. but it was previously only released for the "i" version,where "i" stands for india.
 
Got Improved Battery backup and device working fast...
 
Updated from 2.3.4 to 2.3.6 today. OTA & not thru KIES 🙂. Downloaded in less than 5 minutes but the installation took at least 30+ minutes. In fact I was wondering if the update had got stuck midway but it went thru slowly (patience in not my strong point). Like others have mentioned I noticed this (immediately on starting).


[*]Home screen clock display shifted to bottom.
[*]New unlock system. Can be confusing as there no direction on what to do.
[*]No problem (so far) in browsing thru the gallery.
[*]There is a slight different in accessing the contacts/sms/logs. Basically the first three buttons frm the left side.
[/list]Had taken a backup of everything but I didnt loose anything. 🙂 Will update in due course as & when I notice any upgradation/degradation in performance or other changes.
 
Just noticed that the ringtone for receiving a sms & the delivery report is the same - no matter what ringtone you have applied Bloody inconvenient
&
When the phone gets charged I do not get s sound notification like in 2.3.4
Has anyone noticed the same? I wonder what the 'Notification' ringtone is used for?🙁
