Hello,Long time lurker here.I currently have the 512 kbps unlimited from BSNL and am considering moving to a better/faster connection. Please kindly recommend a few. The reviews I have read about Hathway and Beam are generally negative. Are they worth moving to?My requirements are:a) Unlimited connectionb) Cost to be around Rs 750c) No FUPd) Few disconnections, BSNL has been reasonably good at this. Can anyone leave their personal feedback on Beam and Hathway? Thanks.

Hi there tyrranor ! BSNL has good plans . So what do you download like movies , games etc ? I currently have Rs.850 plan that gives 1 mbps speed upto 8gb and 256 kbps after that(very lame I know) . Its an o.k. Plan but spending 50 more you get 4 mbps with same limits as above . Beam is good based on what I've heared but dunno about stability and downtimes . Also going with if going cable type be ready to experience high pings (plans are pretty attractive though) . I advise you to stay clear from cable types . You can visit consumercourt.in which has lot of complaints on beam . I haven't heared of hathway . Best bet is to pay a little more and stay with good ol' BSNL

Thanks for your reply. But I am clearly looking for an unlimited plan with no FUP. Even with 512kbps I have seen my connection take up to 130GB in some months.

Am using beam from past 6 months. just half day downtime. Plans are excellent. Though beam has had bad complaints in the past , it really good since last one year or so. If you have beam in ur area, go for it. Beam doesnt have any plans for 750, it has plans for Rs 850 (2mbps till 20GB- 1 mbps after FUP)

What do you mean by half day down time?

Hello,

Can anyone leave their personal feedback on Beam and Hathway?

Thanks.
Hathway is Dead Almost All over India. Please Tell us where do you stay?

850 Plan isn't there now. they have Removed it. Because it Doesn't make Sense.
He can go with 600 plan or Extend the budget a bit and Buy 1000Plan as he is paying 820 with taxes for his BSNL connection.

I am living in D.D Colony, Hyderabad if that matters. So Beam seems the best. How is it in general compared to BSNL. Will any power outages in other parts of the city affect the connection?I like BSNL because they are dependent on the phone line which works 24x7. ThanksThe reason I asked about Hathway is that I keep getting pamphlets inserted in newspapers advertising low(er) rates.

I am not Familiar with the areas of Hyderabad. Google tells me its near Vidya nagar. I heard Zoom broadband Serves There. If you are sure Beam Serves There, Give it a try. When Compared to BSNL, Its Far Far better. Pings,Tariff,Service Everything is better. These Sales guys put Pamphlets in our Letter Boxes. I find Reliance,Tikona,Airtel,Beam,YOU and Tata Flyers Each Every 15days.

What do you mean by half day down time?
it means net was down for half a day due to some fiber cut. .got restored in the evening.

Yes. your right

Never Ever go for Beam Fiber. I am struggling with Beam for two months and planning to switch to BSNL. Beam has more downtime than uptime. It is down when ever connection is urgently required. Service Center responds that the issue would be resolved within 24 hours but takes one or two week to restore the connection.

^ I've had downtimes but they're usually solved within 1-2 hrs. But last 1-2 months i've had 99% uptime. And plans are simply the best. i say go for beam.

Haven't had Beam downtime for about 1.5 months *touch wood*. Their service(at least in my locality, seems to differ from area to area) is top notch. Plus if you are youtube junkie like me there is no buffering(Google have a local cache server) even for 720p HD videos

Well i'll say beam CC improved a lot. Had a downtime 2 days back. Called CC and it was rectified within half an hour. But noticed that speed was slow and pings very high(~550ms). So posted speedtest result on their facebook page. It was rectified in `~2 hrs (can't say exactly .. i was away from system) and even got a call asking if speeds were back up. Definitely customercare is improved.
