are you saying 2mbps as minimum speed after FUP? from airtel? seriously? i do not believe you!

AIRTEL doing that!! (Checking my eyes!) :nono:

I think by saying minimum 2mbps is before FUP. They have already taken off 512kbps & 1mbps plans in Bangalore.

2mbps plans as minimum before FUP does not really change anything if they are going to stick with FUPs ranging between 3GB and 150GB. 3GB costs around 650 bucks for god sake.

----------

just had another major annoyance with the FUP message.

i opened up around 15 links from a web page and closed it.

noticed after a while that around 5 of those pages ended up getting redirected to the FUP message.

and since the link was changed, i lost the original target. 😕

I have a friend who works at Airtel and is managing broadband upgrades all over India. By Feb, we can expect the minimum speeds of ALL broadband plans to be 2mbps. So there are at least some brains at airtel now.
Until Airtel provides a post-FUP speed of a minimum of 1 MBPS, it sucks. I hope we would atleast see an increase in FUP limits in the current plans.

I also don't have a clue why they are not offering a plan with more than 150 GB of high speed data. They just want to fleece the customers by charging exorbitant amounts for smartbytes.

A new plan offering 250 GB is needed. Going by the current rates at Airtel,
250 GB @ 4MBPS - Rs. 2499 /-
250 GB @ 2MBPS - Rs. 2399 /-

I'm going to meet this person today. I'll ask about the FUP issue but basically the idea is that they are getting complaints that Airtel is not doing enough with speeds and that their bandwidth can manage more. NCR are going to be the first, area wise, to get the 2 mbps upgrades. I'll definitely give my input. Also, I have informed this person about traffic shaping of bit torrents and will definitely look into it.

from what i remember, most of their plans already have 2mbps as the minimum speeds. a few might be there with slower speeds. but of course... with airtel, it is all about FUP limits these days. speeds are irrelevant.

GBs left in your account 1.43
Days left in the current Bill Cycle 6

woohoo. ;|

Right. Well, you can be rest assured I will be making my case for a FUP. I'm going to advise a 300gb fup at least.

Please do ask your friend if he knows anything about why Airtel is sucking so much these days with regard to the latency etc. and whether and why they are doing traffic shaping w.r.t. streaming videos etc. - even with a 4Mbps connection and a 150GB FUP which I don't even reach close to, it is such an amazingly frustrating experience to even try to watch a video these days. These fools should hang themselves for taking one of the best ISPs in the country and drowning it in the gutter.

ok. just wanted to say that this thread was about crappy pings... airtel guy admitted that the problem was in the backend and it seems to be better now. pings are fine most of the times. got some major disturbance for a while earlier today. do get it checked... the problem is definitely in their backend.

----------

there is no problems with youtube videos at my end. torrents working fine at nights.

----------

WooHoo...

256kbps after such a long time.

Next five days are going to be painful.

----------

ouch. did i just post my landline number on a public platform? 😱

Well, then remove it 🙂. Unfortunately I did not meet this person (it's a female). On wednesday I will.

I have no idea what is going on.

Airtel SmartBytes page is not working at my end right now. And I did not opt for an extension package.

I have tomato firmware running on my Wifi router which has bw accounting. So all my usage from PC,Laptop,Mobile & iPad are accounted centrally. When I hit 100% usage on my 75Gb plan, the router shows ~70GB for the past two months. So Airtel seems to be eating up 5Gb on my 75Gb plan.Another point to note is, when you have a crappy last mile connection, the 80% usage redirection problem felt the most as the modem gets resets very often and they show this message when it connects.chomemaniac, I thought you had an 'unlimited' connection without any FUP attached. How come now you are into this plan...

because i am on a 2099 150GB FUP plan? and i do not really get any special treatment from airtel. 🙂 i guess i do sometimes wrt complaints about problems with my connections. but even then it is a bagful of hurt every time.
