Digicam stolen during my travel in private transport

Just came back from a trip to Pune. Boarded the Volvo Sleeper bus from Pune to Bangalore by Konduskars.The luggage was kept in the Luggage compartment.So at 9am today when I came out of the bus and boarded the auto and checked my bags, My digital camera, its charger and my mobile charger were stolen. Weird because these were in two different bags.Called the Travels office and threatened them but they could not be of much help....Is it gone for good?

Ask that travels office to get hold of bus cleaning boy and driver and threaten them that you'll find a police complaint. Since both digicam and charger are in separate bags. .it appears that they have checked every bag stored in the luggage cabin. ( is the luggage cabin present at the top of seats or is it below the seats? )

I have just given up as both the driver & cleaner are totally denying any involvement 🙁

Will going to police help much? better forget..sad.

No. some 2-3 years back , when me and my dad went to book tickets , one uncle with same prob came with a constable and made a scene at the office. . turns out that there were similar complaints before. So that constable bluffed and said that they'll arrest both driver and cleaner if they dont return back the stolen good. turns out that cleaner took them.

Since they usually lock the luggage compartment. .the cleaner has to be responsible. (also i remember . .cleaner used to stand guard whenever someone has to take luggage from cabin in the middle of the journey 😕 )

Was on a road trip with small backpack and carry bag, digicam was the only gadget I was having. Didnt know it wud prove so costly...

Looks like the cleaner alone or with some help (second driver) are doing it regularly when the bus halts for 20-30 minutes. All passengers are sleeping and wont doubt even if they see cleaner is inside the luggage compartment arranging all the luggage.Your soft luggage was a easy target compared to hard luggage of other co passengers.In most international airports in transit they scan the checked in luggage and steal. Say take the Malaysian airlines to singapore . ( they will change aircraft at their hub -kualalampur) I have had many items stolen many times in this route. same story with Thai connection to say Hongkong via Bangkok.Nowadays I fly with only hand luggage or real solid luggage. no electronics or valuable in checked in luggage.I have seen stories of Indian women loosing jewellery kept in "checked in luggage "too in AirIndia International routes with a transit involved.always keep the soft luggage under your feet or above your head in bus/train.

U can open a luggage bag zip with pen nib 😛 , u should take the valuables with you, one small bag is allowed to be taken inside. Better file a case against them and be on thr head!

Soft luggage .

If the original poster has time and patience ,can go to the police.
If not ,Still write about it in all newspapers/letters to editors.

I dont think that The bus owners are aware of this shennigans done by cleaner or driver included .
These scoundrels are pilfering items from soft bags regularly!
because you dont realise any thing lost for quite some time.
some people dont even unpack travel suitcase/bag for a few days/week.

It happened once to my Friend who traveled in Kesineni Buses. They Lifted Mobile phone from bag. As soon as they Filed a case against the Driver and Cleaner in Hyderabad. Some how it was found again in Bus. :blink3:Magic Magic.. Real thief.. Cleaner babu. 😀

Nice suggestion. These needs to be followed asap and incident should be acknowledged to Bus Owner .
