How can I save money when roaming?

I have an Airtel prepaid connection. I would like to know, how can I save on costs when I am roaming?I lose a lot of money when recieving calls as I am constantly on the phone. Is there a scheme where I can save on incoming calls?Also, do message packs work when roaming or is the normal cost of SMS charged?Thank you.

there are good cdma plans from tata indicom which have free roaming options. check their website

I think I will go with the Rs 42 plan that was in the link you suggested.(Incoming calls Rs 0.60/min. At least better than what it's now)

Thanks for this useful tip but I will stick to Airtel for now. Maybe in the future..........

Welcome buddy! The biggest and I guess only advantage with Airtel is maximum network..even when you are in any Village you may get Airtel signal..and that's where other operators lacks..even BSNL dont have that much coverage. (at least in this is true in my MP/CG and Orissa circle)
