No .. GPRS89 does not happen from a 3G sim .

Not sure whether others can use it also. I have not been able to migrate back to 2G even after sending the message format .
If you migrate to 2G, it should work.

^depends on the region, in TN you can opt for 98rs plan(3GB) by sending GPRS98 to 53733 and speed will be limited to 128 or 256kbps! i guess this is same for kerala too!

kkk...thnks for reply...i also tried a lot and last ended up by changing to 2gplan now using gprs89...will check download speed in trivandrum...hope it will hve speed more than docomo in 3g tower..i'm using it on my datacard....

I have been using 98 rs 3gb plan on 3g prepaid. And when connecting under 3G. I get capped 128kbps speed which is decent enough for browsing and mails as latency is low on 3g u get faster browsing compare to edge.

yes browsing is slow on gprs sometimes bcz of ping delay....this is the same problem i xperience in previous 3g unlimited plan but that time enjoyed heart breakng dwnld speeds in my UMG1831 datacard...
Missing a lot that speed these days...

In gprs i'm getting 30kB/sec average which is more than any other networks

Just recharge with 98 rs. And you will be credited with 3 GB for 30 days. In case of post paid. Visit to your nearest CSC and make request for 89rs plan. They will say you will get 2G speed. Ignore them and complete the form. You will get monthly 3GB. I am using both plan on my both BSNL prepaid and postpaid sim.And it is much better than crappy EDGE connection. Key factor of using 2G plan on 3G sim is latency and fix allotted bandwidth I.e. 128Kbps.
