This is a fantastic vehicle. I am no Maruti fan, and go to the extent of not recommending their cars to anyone, but at this price, and having seen the interiors (even if on TV), this is aggressively priced and has no competition. Not in its target user base.
^ I guess these folks are very clear about whom they are targetting - large joint families. This would be their car. Most likely market segment is in the towns and villages. The Toyota guys couldn't be less bothered about those areas.
I dont see the harm in providing an option, also with the family size and income levels, there will be hordes of families even in the cities who would be interested in it. Currently, the only option they have is probably the Eeco.
yes but it was rebadged as the Eeco and is doing pretty well now(5000+ units a month). this shows that even in this segment, buyers are looking for some aspirational value which this car definitely provides.
Saw an Ertiga being test driven on the road today. I have to admit that it does not look too bad. It almost looked like a mini SUV. For a while I thought I was following an important Mitsubishi mini SUV.
