Airtel 2Mbps/4Mbps - Need feedback

Hi,When Airtel advertises a speed of 2Mbps/4Mbps(I am planning to go for their Alpha 10GB or Turbo 10GB plans), does that refer to the actual download speed you are getting ?I have read about the contention ratio-s and some people say that you get only 1/4 to even 1/20 of the advertised speed for some providers. Would really appreciate if anyone lets me know the download/upload speeds that you get. Feedback from users in Bangalore would be even more helpful. 🙂Regards,Ari.
 
The advertised speed is in Mega bits per second. The actual download speed that you are referring to is in Mega/Kilo bytes per second.To convert bits to byte we divide the speed by 8 as 1 byte = 8 bits.So you'll get around 256kbps download on a 2mbps plan and 512kbps on a 4mbps plan.
 
Depands on your place. There are some places where airtel is pathetic and people are frustrated with it.. If you have to know how airtel will perform in your place, then you will have to either take the connection and see for yourself for a month or ask someone in your locality if they have a airtel connection.
 
in my place i have 7Mbpsline speed and i got download speed 896 kBps download rate.
 
What airtel plan gives 7 mbps?
 

Airtel in Bangalore has ok customer service, good coverage, horrible throttling (everything except youtube) and ok plans....I hope I've summed them up well 😛
