i have an account on cloudflare from the day they were announced at techcrunch disrupt iirc. and i cannot book new domains there.

namecheap seems to have free whois privacy.

sometimes they ask for a coupon code to add it for free. so make sure you confirm how it is added.

also remember some tlds do not allow private dns. like .in. so if the domain name tld is not important but you need whois privacy, consider using a tld that allows whois privacy.

looks like it would be automatically enabled on supported tlds.

I have consolidated all my domains with Dynadot, I find them decent, good simple UI. Prices are decent. Several years ago, I used to transfer domains each year to the registrar who offered the cheapest price to save a dollar or two. But now I am consistently with Dynadot even if the pricing is a bit higher for a certain TLD.

I like NameCheap too.

cloudflare does provide a ssl at their level which would be visible to the outside world. for best result, you would need to install an ssl on your own domain on the server. which is doable using let's encrypt for free.

If you are using CloudFlare, the main user facing TLS certificate is managed by them as @Sushubh mentioned. For the origin server ie your server where the website is hosted, you could even use CloudFlare's Origin certificate -- Managing Cloudflare Origin CA certificates This would not be trusted by regular browsers, but CloudFlare trusts it and you can enable TLS validation for your origin servers.

i use let's encrypt and it works fine. it does have multiple options. you can use a self signed certificate on your domain and cloudflare would also work with that.
