just transferred five more domains from GoDaddy to hover. only a few left that would be done by the end of the year!

moved one more domain from GoDaddy to hover. only a few remaining on godaddy.

Have most of my domains with Name.com.
Its been a mess. All accounts have got their passwords reset automatically.
Thankfully have reset everything.

I hope you did not save your card data with them?
Hover and GoDaddy both of my card data stored with them. 🙁

No I dont have any of my payment data stored with them.
Looks like this is a major breach.

Bigrock has started charging 300Rs for "Privacy Protection" without any e-mail / sms warning.
I renewed a domain (one month in advance) before this announcement (i.e. when Privacy protection was FREE)
That time they renewed the domain for 1 year but today when actual domain renewal date came they are asking me to pay 300Rs extra for "Privacy Protection"
Bad business practice

I really suggest getting out of Indian domain companies. Even hosting. I am waiting for an invite for Google Domains. I don't care if the prices are going to be higher than GoDaddy this time around. I have faith in Google. 😛

No Bigrock is good. Using from about 5-7 years. Good support too.
This is first time they have taken such abrupt decisions.
It looks like GoDaddy and Hostgator are taking its business away and they are trying to find ways to earn money.
I am ok if they informed me earlier and then charged.
But abrupt charges (after domain was already renewed) are not acceptable.

I have heard only bad things about Bigrock but then similar stories exist for every company out there. Unless their domain prices are on the lower side, I do not see why anyone would want to use them. Anyways, if you are happy with them, good enough.

Well for me prices are cheap and good too.
Web hosting also provides all features GoDaddy / hostgator provide.
They reply to tickets within 2-3 hours.
So no negatives atleast from my end.
And finally I prefer Indian company because money stays in India.

Unless you are talking about .in domains, the money is probably not going to remain in India. .com domains are operated by Verisign I believe.

Yes but for domain registration only. And bit of profit also goes to Indian company instead of 100% going to foreign company.
Money for DNS services, domain hosting, 100% go to Indian company. (atleast for India hosted server)

Can some one suggest me a cheap and best domain name registrar which include Basic Privacy Protection. And this is my first of registering a Domain name so is there anything else to note or keep track before registering a domain. @Sushubh ji & @varkey your view on various domain registrar ? can you please share your thought here.

i would have suggested cloudflare but they still haven't open registration support on most accounts.

apart from that... there is not much difference in domain companies. i keep on shuffling between them wherever the prices are lower. almost everyone gives whois privacy on supported tlds free these days.

name.com is fine. namecheap.com is fine. google domains is expensive but also fine.

yeah i tried to register with cloudflare only same thing happend as you said. They haven't opened the registration support yet and my cloudflare account is also new so they don't give that feature for me i think. Now i am going with namecheap.com as my domain name is cheaper there.
