I'm facing this weird problem on my Videocon D2H standard box (around 10 - 11 months old) since the last two-three days. The volume automatically goes off while watching, across all channels. The only way to get it back it to completely switch off the box from the mains and turn it on again. This happens atleast three four times a day. What could be the problem. Is it the box that's the culprit?

This is something unusual issue. You must ask complaint the same with d2h. I am sure either firmware is outdated or STB would be faulty.

Thanks for your reply! This would be my first interaction with Videocon D2H customer service, have never faced any issues before. If the engineer visits my place, would it be on chargeable basis? If yes, what would be the charges, if you know it.

It will be best if you mail them the complaint as call centers are always amazing 😀

Oh is it? Then I'll do as you advised, will email to customercare@d2h.com (?).

That id shud suffice for now. But do keep us updated on how things pan out.

Strange as it may be, but my parents told me when I reached home, that it has not even happened once today. I was about to email them after reaching home. I think I should wait.

My d2h experiences a gradual volume drop / increase while watching for a while ?! What should I do?

@ Nishant.....Chances are, it was just a temporary relief. It might resurface, coz the fault seems to be with ur STB. Do keep an eye on it, thats all we wud say.@ Sagian.....Which channel do u observe this on? And what are ur TV's audio settings? Coz chances are, if u have set a bar on the volume beyond which it cant increase, then u might face such issues as well. I dont remember what that function is called.....it used to come in media players, and i think TVs too shud be having it (I havent checked mine)

Very impressed with their customer service! I had not yet logged a complaint for this issue and I just now got a call from one of their executives asking about the problem. They said they'll send a technician in half an hour to check for this issue. I guess they have picked up the info from this thread. And moreover I have given IBF referral when buying the connection.

I dont know urn location.....chances are that if u live in a place where the technicians r tech savvy, then they must b following the forum.I have atleast shown this site to engineers of my area.

Maybe. The engineeer was at my place for around half an hour, sadly nothing happened at that time. He has given his number to me in case the problem reappears. I also have the number of the person who called me.

A funny thing happened today.....The engineer called me as well, asking if there were any issues. After i said there wasnt any, except for the bug in info bar, he said "Have u complained to police?" I was like 😕 :S The main issue was solved, TRAI sent me a confirmation that my issue was solved to my satisfaction, and so many days after that, this came!
