Was thinking of getting a Macbook, I have MTNL broadband 256kb DSL. I was wondering if the hardware is compatible with Mac I have a D-Link router. Also I have heard if I get a wireless router I can feed the username / password details etc so I can share Internet without a PC. Can it be done with MTNL ? Has anyone done it ?

doing it now (actually with a PowerBook 15") but getting a MacBook Pro in the next couple of months. I have the MTNL router (UT Starcom) connected via cat5 to an SMC wireless router. The PowerBook connects wirelessly to the SMC router. And yes you can share the internet connection.

Hi,I have a PC & a Powerbook 12" ...I had thought of going for a wireless ADSL router of D-Link (DSL-G604T) but since combination of ADSL + wireless router is cheaper I will go for the usual ADSL router ...then later on will purchase a Wireless router.

Go for it! My girlfriend has a Macbook 2.0, I have a 17" Powerbook upgrading to a 17" MBP next week. You'll have no problems whatsoever!
