heh yeah. its the hottest trend on twitter right now.

if i believe what i have read, i would be required to read and approve each individual post here on the forum as well to see if it is negative in nature.

in simple terms, this is reaching the height of absurdity on the part of the indian government.

India Asks Google, Facebook to Screen User Content — india.blogs.nytimes.com — Readability

The executives said representatives from these companies will tell Mr. Sibal at the meeting on Monday that his demand is impossible, given the volume of user-generated content coming from India, and that they cannot be responsible for determining what is and isn’t defamatory or disparaging.

“If there’s a law and there’s a court order, we can follow up on it,” said an executive from one of the companies attending the meeting. But these companies can’t be in the business of deciding what is and isn’t legal to post, he said.

so govt know and accept the fact that they are being abused/hated by new generation......

@ Sushubh: I was about to say you the same. Make whole Politics Section Hidden and also appoint a special MOD for it. I am 101% confident that google and facebooks are hard to follow, but forum Admins and very accessible to these Indian Government. You may not know and one " Thulla " of Delhi Police came to your place with Sibal invitation . 😀

Slowly becoming more and more like China. The fact that the Government is getting it's handed by an elderly person, shouldn't mean they try to jerk us off by implementing absurd laws.

suks and wtf ?

Our Favourite Medianama further Digs into the article:

When It Comes To The Internet, The Indian Government Needs A Reality Check - MediaNama

The Indian government needs to have a more realistic approach to the Internet.
We’ve said this before and we’ll say it again – there is a dangerous trend that has emerged over the last year and a half, of the Indian government trying to monitor, identify and block digital (online and mobile) communications, and increasingly there is paranoia over their lack of control over the digital space. So:
- They’re trying to contain the spread of potentially threatening communications – for example, stopping SMS’ beyond a certain limit and give themselves the ability to block pages and communities online through the IT Rules
- Identify people involved through the Unique ID project and mobile number verification – Do remember that Yahoo India is in court, because they refused to share information on certain email IDs
- Trying to monitor Blackberry Messenger messages (which were used during the UK riots in August), and record calls, GPRS access, location information.
Judging by the report today, it’s going from bad to worse.

everyone unite and tweet against it Jesus 1st we hardly have good internet speeds and with the kind of speeds what we can do the govt. doest even want us to do that.....very sad...

do these old farts even understand anything about how the internet/ social sites work etc??? bloody retards.

I wud like to know what blr_p has to say on this "Freedom of Speech" thingy! On 1 side he supports these type of guys & also says that he believes in freedom of speech. Now he has to select 1 of the 2.

Khamba's Blog — www.gkhamba.com — Readability

Great piece by Khamba!

What you are sir are a bunch of pussies who pretend to be forward thinking but really are stuck in a bygone era where you’re probably still trying using Netscape to read this shitty blog post. If you think young people got pissed off with you about corruption – wait till you take away their porn and Facebook. More and more are waking up to your self-serving policy making - and my hope till then is that your government’s stellar record of being unable to execute anything except Rahul’s temporary encroachments over Dalit households extends to this regime.

haha they can no way take Kamasutra ( porn ) away from India that prbly even worse than nt accepting Jan Lokpal Bill.
