LAN Port Activated finally.......

Hello everyone.Today i receieved software update on my Tata Sky HD +.....after rebooting i explore and found 2 changes:1. when i go to organiser then system settings i found a new option "IP Diagnostics" i selected the option and it shows ip configuration details as no ethernet cable is connected to HD box hence shows ip connection failed.... i plugged RJ45 Lan cable to my router with HD Box and wow its great to see ip address assigned to HD Box and internet is up....now the question comes what is the purpose of internet on HD box i explore and found 1. when i select showcase then video on demand and wow i can see Free Movies options with a snapshot of movie images and when i click on free movies i can see lots of movies listing which i can select and download on my HD BOX and once downloaded i can see....woowwwwwwww2. also i can see Sony channel v channel star plus channel and surprise to see i can watch any episode which i miss. its just like recording is on tata sky server and you can select the serial which u wana see then it will download on HD BOX via your internet connection and u can see it,..guys if anyone has new to share please post it.....

I have not received an update , but is there a way to force fully tell the box to push the update .. i mean by pressing some buttons on the Remote that would activate it .. Awaiting reply . Thanks Anuj

I am not sure about Tata Sky's service, but just some input on topic.

When we connect 'any' broadband connection to STB, the STB establish a connection with backend server of provider (Tata Sky in this case) through broadband connection. The connection may be secure type with some encryption involved (which is generally hidden from customer).
If connection is successfully establish, we can see different data option provided by operator over broadband, like balance, any interactive service, games, and even videos. (I have used similar service in Sky UK).

Mine Tata Sky HD + too got updated with version 106.....

this is only for hd+? not for the plain Tata Sky+?

I received the update last night. I am yet to connect the LAN cable though. Will test it tonight and post my views.

LAN port is still not activated on my box. Should we proactively restart the STB maybe. Anyways the SW version is from August so i don't think i have git the update yet

sure will update the snapshots...by sat evening..... also one more thing i can see Download Manager option in "Recording Plan" .....and Showcase....also...

Yes, completely add free. as on a DVD

Ok atleast ad free as of now, not sure about near future. But otherwise services like this are usually Ad Free - as experienced on my old BSNL IPTV
