Firmware for Beetel 450 TC2 . The modem is manufactured by TP-Link and the chipset is a ralink one with a ralink wireless chip as well . AIrtel firmware had restricted the wifi -gain and the modem was frequently disconnecting as well .
SO I checked up the chipsets and downloaded an appropriate firmware from tp-link . The router works like a charm and the wifi signal strength has also increased . There are more options as well on the new web access pages . I have tested the router with torrents and multiple downloads as well . The router is stable .
The right tp-link model is TD-W8951ND V5 .
The firmware rom file is
http://www.tp-link.in/resources/software/TD-W8951ND_V5_131104.zip
Please use this firmware for only 450tc2 version of the modem . It will not support the 450tc1 version of beetel .

I guess 450tc1 also would be manufactured by TP-Link...just need to find the right model no and chipset

If you can open the box and note down the chip or if u can send a high res pic , i will be able to give you an appropriate fw upgrade . If anyone is in chennai , and can loan me a tc1 I can try

Hi, can anyone tell me if we can use Tomato firmware for Beetel 450TC1 Modem-cum-router?
iirc, its a trendchip device. and afaik there are no known sources of getting the sources.
trendchip is a bi**h! dont opt it!
i wish i could help you and port openwrt/dd-wrt/tomato but i am sorry and i am also afraid, i cant help you with this.
if you have/find the source code for the adsl modem alone? ping/private message me.

UPDATE REGARDING BEETEL 450 TC2.

Hi All,

I am a newbie to this forum. I was searching for the solution to upgrading the firmware for my BEETEL 450 TC2, ever since I got this piece of sh*t from Airtel for free as part of the package when I signed up for their Landline and Broadband services.

From day one the modem/router hardly worked and also it had a major security flaw (please Google about a secondary SSID being broadcast along with your primary SSID, which you cannot turn off as the original firmware was heavily modded/locked by Airtel).

However, on entering the modem's configuration utility I could immediately spot the similarities with TP-Link routers.

Hence, when I stumbled upon YUGA'S brilliant solution I could not believe my own eyes and with a bit of scepticism and keeping my fingers crossed decided t flash the firmware which he suggested in this thread and voila, the damn think changed to TP-LINK with the sh*itty AIRTEL firmware replaced with TP-LINK'S one. All features were unlocked and modem working flawlessly.
.
SO ALL FOLKS WHO ARE STUCK WITH THE ORIGINAL F/W PLEASE INSTALL THIS FIX AND ENJOY THE FULL POTENTIAL OF THE H/W.

MANY MANY THANKS AND REGARDS TO YUGA FOR HIS WORK AND EFFORTS.

AGAIN THANKS A MILLION - YUGA. HATS OFF TO YOU.

Thank you very much for trying out . I like the performance of this router more than ever . I would suggest everyone to try the firmware . Can someone tell me how to make this sticky with the firmware so that even if TP-Link removes the download option we can still have access to the firmware ?

HI All,

I support Yuga in this and highly recommend all of you who are having this modem/router to install this firmware to realise the full potential of this H/W which is excellent in all other respects.

By the way, @yuga, I have downloaded and installed the most recent F/W from TP-Link's site, the version which has been released by TP-Link after the one suggested by you and it is stable and working flawlessly too.

So all in all, to sum up, a dead piece of junk have been brought back to life, and that too for free.

KUDOS TO YUGA.

As an afterthought, guys if you search extensively for any solution to this router's various issues, when the router is still loaded with the original Airtel F/W, you will notice there are hardly any workable answers - only daunting questions and agonizing frustrations.

THIS IS THE ONLY VIABLE AND SENSIBLE SOLUTION I HAVE EVER COME ACROSS TILL DATE FOR THIS PARTICULAR ROUTER.

Correct me if I am wrong !!!

UPDATE 2 FOR THE BEETEL 450TC2:

Hi All,

It has been 2 days since I had changed the F/W to TP-Link's as per suggestion provided by Yuga here and following are my observations:

1. The range of this router is fantastic - better than the more reputed brands which I happen to own, like D-Link DIR-600, Asus RT-N13U-B1, Tenda W303R. Actual test condition is that in a 3 storeyed house of approx. 1000 sq.ft. in each floor with multiple walls and floors in between my one desktop pc is connecting at 135 - 150 Mbps which is located at the extreme end at the ground floor while the router is located at the the other extreme end of the house at the 1st floor. Same is the result obtained with my laptop at the 2nd floor extreme end of the house. This is pretty nice and awesome.

2. Rock solid network and DSL sync as no disconnections.

3. Not much heating even after the router is constantly switched on for 48 hours continuously.

4. Since F/W is now TP-Link's, configuration options are al open and easy to do. Lot's of help also available on the net if required.

5. All DSL providers are accessible as router has now no restrictions.

6. The security vulnerability is now totally solved.

Please al, who are still with Airtel's crap F/W please switch to TP-Link's F/W and see the difference - breathe new life into your H/W and the router will bless you all for that 🙂

@ YUGA: If the sticky thing doesn't happen please can you create a separate GDrive account and host TP_Link's F/W there and then share the link here and everywhere so that the F/W is available to all if at all TP-Link decides to pull the plug on it someday. I am sure folks like us will bless you for that 😉

HAPPY ROUTING !!!

@w557 Can you please tell me the steps of how to install f/w? Don't have any idea about it? Will be grateful to you.

Hi, Please note that this F/W which I am referring to is for TC2 version of the router. So 1st u need to ascertain that. If it is TC2 then download the F/W file from the link given by Yuga. Save it somewhere on your desktop after unzipping it (if it comes in a zip format). After this you need to log into the Router. To do this open a new browser window and type 192.168.1.1, assuming that your router's IP address is that (that is the default address of the majority of routers.) Default user name and password asked will be admin/password for Airtel supplied H/W, else p/w is admin usually unless someone had changed it to something else. Also you may need to change your pc's IP address to some static one, like 192.168.1.10. Hope you know how to do this. Also please note before u start doing all these steps connect your router and pc by ethernet. Also conect your pc and router to a stable power source like UPS as you will likely brick your router if in the midst of a F/W upgrade the power fails. After this you need to navigate to your router's Maintenance/Firmware page. Then you have to select the firmware upgrade and select the "ras" file from the F/W folder you saved earlier in your deskyop and hit upgrade button in the bottom of the page. If you have done everything correctly you should now notice the message "Updating F/W, please wait" - something of this sort type message. This will be take a bit of time so please be patient and wait, the router will automatically restart. If everything went correctly you should now notice that the F/W has changed to TP-LKinks'. Please do this at your own risk and don't blame me/us if something goes wrong.
