Dish Tv Service Is Horrible

hmm.. atleast they can intro stb in categories.like at 1: a basic 1 . wich can give u only channels2: shows all channels + sum additional features(like active from Tata Sky)3. all channels + sum feature wich maybe introduced by dish (if any)4. supports all features by tatasky and dish 🙂 (might be expensive thn others)

hmmm...good suggestion, however, I think DISH TV's response to signal compression maybe something like this. They would say that they are being forced to carry mandatory 30+ DD-free to air channels and that's the main reason why they have to compress the rest of the channels. This would weaken the case against compression.

All I can say to this is that I don't mind paying a 1000 rupees extra per year but give me quality instead of quantity. DISH TV please get more transponders!!

BTW I have learned to align the DISH antennae. My cable WALA had messed up my dish on the building roof. When I called DISH helpdesk, they as usual asked me to get lost and contact my dealer, who in turn wanted me to contact the dish service center and blah blah...so I just went up and called my wife's mobile from the roof. She kept telling me the numbers and I was able to allign the dish...

That might work, just like cell phones. YOu can choose cell phone and use with any cell company.

And yes some cell phones might lack features like GPRS, but if your equippmnt has features that you need, then it should not be an issue.
 
but u pay extra for gprs... 😉 while these services are special features provided free of cost. atm atleast.

I thought that signal strength maybe causing this, but I had 75-76% signal, which DISH TV tech said was the max he had seen himself. people usually get 60-65%.

Damn !! My cable looked and sounded so much better with full bandwidth, and this DTH looked like small video clip made full screen on my 29 inch TV. I guess it's passable on smaller 21'' screens but looks bad and patchy on a 29''.

My advice...don't go for this DTH hype till they improve their service.

P.S. another thing...they recently did a software upgrade and dumbed down the set top box. now you cannot make any system changes and can't even see the signal strength. The channel surfing has also become a pain..instead of quickly shifting between screenful of channel menu, now I have to scroll through each and every channel to reach the desired channel. Their telephone support says there is no way to go back to the old firmware. They claim this new one is very user friendly. How is it user friendly when the users don't like it?? their active channels are just marketting hype to attract new customers comparing their service with Tata Sky. No one watches their silly active patchwork.

I don;t know about TATA SKY but DISH TV will give you that cheap "quantity and no quality" feeling that reliance CDMA phones gave.

From the day I got my DISHTV put 4 months ago, till today, I've had very bad experience with their customer service.First, after a week if having it installed, no signal error started popping up, called the customer support, they said they haven't yet got out applciation forms from the dealer or something, turns out the dealer actually forgot to hand in DishTV officials our signal allowance forms.Now, its not working again. No signal again. Called their customer support, they say contact the dealer, contacted the dealer, says he doesn't handle such problems we should call the customer support.Yes, just like that scene in the movie Hera Pheri where Suni Shetty gets pointed around the whole bank, that's what my position was.Anyways decided to call up DishTV customer support again, now they won't pick up no matter what. 🙂Swear to god I have thought about shifting to Tata Sky a long time ago, but the amount of money they have taken as a deposit hurts.Though, i'll be warning all others being pulled by DishTV's ads, gonna warn them up to instead follow up Tata Sky.If they start going bankrupt and lose competition to Tata Sky, maybe they'll think about picking my calls up and fixing my problems once and for all.
 
I've finally switched off my dishtv stb forever and subscribed to Tata Sky. I was using dishtv for about 11 mths now and since last 4 mths had a terrible time complaining and pleading their customer service about the faulty firmware problem on the stb due to which it use to hang and crash everytime I use to browse the EPG. Since last month after upgrading to the Sony channels, I had a typical problem, only the one alliance frequency quality used to drop for a sec in every 30 secs giving me random freezes. So as usual their customer service did not own to even this problem and I was really hurt so much that I cancelled my sibscription 45 days earlier to its expiring date. I feel happy the way Tata sky has handled its services till date, so I feel I should have taken the decision much earlier.So guys, switch over and have peace of mind.
 
I'm shifting to Tata Sky. DishTV customer service is pathetic now.They finally answered my phone call, they said they hadn't recieved the check for the month (which was true), so around 2 weeks ago, I mail the check, called them up around a week ago, they confirmed they recieved my check, and till now all I get on my STB is : NO SIGNAL.DishTV, you can now go and bankrupt yourself, tata!

My service was activated at the same time when they fixed everything and it was on from the first minute.
The video is kinda STREAMING VIDEO so pixels here and thr are possible but the quality is way BETTER than the local cable and the sound is ROCKS in my Philips SUBWOOFERS.
I think u have messed up the setting. U might have changed ASPECT RATIO setting coz i have 29" and it plays in full screen unless i change the ASPECT RATIO.
My advice is first go and see the DISH TV service in one of ur friends house if anyone has it and then go for it.
Software upgrade was very helpful. U can see system signal strength BRO... Jus go to LNB setup and there u have to press the RED button to get into the SETUP PAGE and watch the signal strength. Channel scrolling is one the feature which Tata Sky offers and it is supposed to be a GOOD THING. Plzzz jus go through all the MENU buttons and u will come to know alot.

Hey dude I am also dis-agree with you but aggree with the Dishtv is distributing poor sound and video quality

IS IT POSSIBLE TO INDRODUCE NEW TP or EDIT THE TP WITH THE DISH TV's NEW UPGRADED SOFTWARE?
I DONT THINK, THAT IS THE MAIN DRAWBACK.
