For Rs 450, individuals can now get a copy of their credit history and credit score - the document which in recent years has become an important determinant of whether an individual is eligible for a loan on not.

On Wednesday, Credit Information Bureau of India (Cibil) - a central agency which collects and maintains borrower information from lenders across the country said that it will make available online the Cibil Transunion score. This score along with a record of credit history is used by lenders as a measure of creditworthiness. The score ranges between 300 and a maximum of 900. A score of 800 is considered good and often eligible for loan by most lenders.

Just applied for tht .. Authentication was done successfully .. and they will email the score within 4 business days

Yeah .. for tht after payment they ask 5 questions regarding ur accounts or loans which u may have taken in past ..Like wht was the highest or lowest loan amount sanctioned to u .. or in which bank u never applied for an account .. etc etc

They already have the options .. so u have to select the correct answers for those questions ..I also took the loan some 7-8 years back for my bike and once for my car .. So they asked me abt tht only .. Not all questions r linked to loan .. They will have other questions too according to ur history5 question they asked me .. My lowest loan amount and bank name .. My highest loan amount and bank name .. My account type and its activation date ... Which bank I don't have any account .. last one I don't remember ..So they were all easy ..

never took a loan. not sure if it would work for me. i do have a credit card so i should be there in their database.

I have some cash on call and EMI and all loan amounts are visible in HDFC Netbanking since last 2 months.

Aah, so it's online now? Excellent. Let me try it out.

Thanks for the link, have been planning to ask them for a report for really long but the paper procedure was putting me off. Now just hoping they send me the report in 4 days as mentioned. What is interesting though is the questions they asked which seemed to indicate to me that some of my credit history is seriously missing from their records 😀

Did anyone received there CIBIL report? Its been more than a week now and I havent received my report. Have send them an email, Lets see what they reply.

I got it in 4 business days as they had mentioned. Must say I am impressed. As also pissed after seeing the report. HDFC sent as many as 15 enquiries to check if I was eligible for a credit card, on the same day. This, after they contacted me for a card as I had a corporate savings account. Bastards. More enquiries means more 'negative' points on your credit rating.

I paid for the report on 6th December but had to courier the documents required to their mailing address because the online authentication failed - did all of this on 6th itself & confirmed from the courier tracking number that the package was delivered to CIBIL office on 7th Dec.

I wrote an email to info@cibil.com on19th Dec because i had still not received any communication from their end via email or by mail + another reminder email on 20th Dec with 'Read Receipt' but they haven't replied back to the email or the 'read confirmation receipt' till date. To the best of my knowledge i have sent all documented required by courier & also included all the details like transaction number etc in the email.

P.S: My online authentication failed because i didn't remember which my lowest amount loan was 🙁

*Does someone know 'who' would be the next point of contact or the escalation matrix for these kind of issues ?

how much time does it take to receive the report after sending in the hard copies of the documents?

I guess this helps:

I received my CIBIL report after 1 month. In my case the online authentication was successfully done.

Every time I used to call them and send follow up email asking for my report, They give me a lame excuse as "there is a slight delay in processing your request due to a technical issue at our end"

Kotak Mahindra Bank kept pestering me to take there credit card which I denied everytime and they kept inquiring CIBIL for my credit report, Because of which my CIBIL score has taken a hit.

WTF ... So n number of companies keep approaching me to take their CCs so does that mean my credit score will be hit everytime??? That really does not seem logical... So a company I have no connection with & whose service I have never ever used can still bring down my credit score??? Would be really stupid if it is true...

This was probably brought in western countries to eliminate unwanted loan applications + to ensure there is a proper check on the borrowing mechanism

I finally got my report but there are quiet a few errors that needs to be corrected, hard to believe that my 'Credit Worthiness' really stands on some unwarranted data gathered in a really crude way.

I suggest that everyone should get their CIBIL reports checked and corrected asap or at least before applying for a loan

----------

& yes even my rating is also hit because of queries from SBI & other banks for probably offering Credit Card + also because i already have a car loan with balance of about 6.2 lakhs, taken a year ago - so 4 more years to go
