Before jumping on the specifications, decide which brand you want to go with.Hewlett-Packard or Dell...and just the second link seems to work.

2nd config looks good, very good for the price. Just ensure you buy it with 3yr Onsite Warranty - worth it & you also get international warranty automatically(Only if 3 or more years of onsite warranty is purchased)

if microsoft is not must, then go for Apple mac book air. no virus attack or OS crash. Lion X OS is superb. i have both Microsoft and apple. After buying Sony, need to spend 3K every yr on Mcafee secuirty renewal else virus will eat up my OS. well in Apple, no expenditure at all except if u would want to go with extened support pack(which anyways not required)

If you have a genuine operating system then why would you spend on Mcafee instead of using MSE 😕

Seems like the links aren't working. I"ll get that sorted.Basically it is the HP Dv6, The Dell XPS 15 or the Lenovo T520. Thoughts on these laptops?

Hello,

I've been doing a ton of research but still don't know which laptop to choose. Here are the configurations I've come up with so far:

https://www.shopping.hp.com/webapp/shopping/cart_detail.do?pageLink=true&bvLoadCart=1&action=add&disp_msg=0Lenovo - Customize your ThinkPad T520 laptop with Solid State Drive
The Dell Online Store: Build Your System
The Dell Online Store

Any other suggestions? I'm buying it from the USA. Also, what about the new HP Envy's?

Thanks,
Crazysah

If you are purchasing in USA, this one can be a better option. I wish it was available in India.

HP Pavilion dm4 and dm4x Entertainment PC series | HP® Official Store

Looking that the models he quoted, I suppose his budget is around $900...and I guess DM4 is available in India.

But I am unable to locate any online store having HP Envy or dm4 series laptops.

What is your usage? Gaming? Watching Movies? How important is portability and weight? Battery life?

If you can order in the next three days, there is a very good deal on the Lenovo Ideapad Y560
- USB 3.0
- Core i7 2630QM
- 8GB RAM
- 750GB HDD
- nVidia GT555
- Blu Ray Drive
- Win7 Premium

Normally sells for 1549$ but is available for 829$ till 23rd.

Lenovo IdeaPad Y570 086227U Intel Core i7-2630QM 2.00GH, 8GB RAM, 750GB, Blu-ray, 15.6-inch, 1GB Video card

My usage is mainly photo editing, college work, some data processing and gaming too.
My budget is around $1500 and can go up but I'd prefer it not too. I'm also looking for a SSD but that's not very important. Also, I would love a 15" but I'm wiling to go 13" if the laptop is amazing. I am buying from the USA and anytime between now and December 20th (I can wait till January if something amazing is coming out!)

Am currently looking at HP, Dell and Thinkpads.

If you can do without that SSD, then that lenovo laptop is brilliant VFM. Amazon will probably have some black friday deals on Toshiba Qosmio laptops, look out for those too.

If you need the SSD, then go to HP's site, customize a DV7T with:

i7-2670QM
2GB Radeon HD 6770M
8GB DDR3 RAM
160GB SSD + 500GB HDD

total will come to 1913$. Use NBG64548 coupon to get 500$ off.
