Week 3 is fast approaching.

Week 3 is fast approaching.

More delays thanks to pretty stupid reasons and someone being particularly greedy. Connections will not happen in week 3, if in January at all. See Twitter.

^^ I can't be bothered with Twitter any more. Delays are always due to stupid reasons.

Fully agree. They are. Which is why Twitter should be your friend: answers are short & sweet.

And the wait rollovers to FEB :suicide:

His last tweet says something about the RAS being flaky or may be some one cutting the fiber.Hope we get our connections fast.If Mumbai is being so problematic, then may be Matt can start in other cities.

Well, i don't think he will start in other cities before mumbai, as he has already made substantial investments here.

Actually, it's not out of the question anymore, despite my insisting that we focus on Mumbai.Mumbai has become very messy very suddenly, and one of our deals may be becoming void due to that company having now been sold off and now, as I mentioned sometime in November or December, with some potential consolidation happening between cable operators it may make it more difficult to provide service in the city (or easier depending on what our offer is).Ripunjay and I have had some very late nights (3am finishes) in the last few weeks to entertain new strategies (in other words, making plans B through Z... if one thing fails, back up plan is such and such, if THAT fails, we try this... and so on). One possibility includes concentrating less on Mumbai and more on tier 2 & 3 cities because, apart from those who have subscribed, everyone from my parents and the Mrs to the investors are breathing down our neck (mostly my neck, actually) to get *something* started somewhere - and I too am getting anxious, not just about what the immediate consequences are, but the long-term effects of these delays in case something drastic happens - like someone wanting to cash out early.

Better launch in some other cities , make it successful, become big and then come back to Mumbai with a bang. But always keep in Mind that 4G is launching in September 2012 .

Not to mention that Mukesh is wooing all the cable ops (separately to the aforementioned) - basically he's saying "we'll re-do the network for you, just shut up and take our money and do nothing" - they're buying equipment from EVERYWHERE and it looks like they're just going to try all sorts of different technologies in the hopes that a couple will work well enough to stick - they're buying stuff for GPON, GEPON, EPON, various wireless bits, Metro Ethernet stuff, HFC stuff... everything!

Yep, Very well aware of that. They have been grouping all available resource in country specially in Mumbai to roll out 4G and make it a National Success like they did while launching " Reliance Infocomm " in 2002

I don't think except Hathway, anyone else gonna deny him for Stakes. If you look at broader picture, everything is planned.

1. Kapil Sibal demand content in leu of Higher Bandwith . And very next week Mukesh Ambani bags huge content project in Indian Education System.
2. Digitisation to be done on priority in Metros with very limited time frame. Now except hathway, no other Cable Service in India is so capable enough & organised to handle this huge project. So, again Mukesh came forward and offered to Buy Stakes.
3. To demoralize other operator, 3G Roaming Dispute & Charging of additional spectrum is being framed.
4. Delay in NTP Bill to provide enough time frame for Mukesh Bhai to make their 4G successful.

i thought it was wireless? 😕

It is, but he has to connect his LTE base stations to wired networks, doesn't he?

In addition, with an ISP license they *can* indeed do whatever the hell they want with regards to launching a separate ISP to the already existing RCOM, and that does involve wooing LCOs. Even I was asked what price I would sell to Reliance for.

You're also forgetting the new proposed universal service license so that Mukesh will only have to spend 20Cr on licensing instead of 1,866Cr - that's a biggie!

so basically it's wireless till the local cable operator and then it gets wired.it would still have crappy latency i guess and network congestion would mean crappier speeds?
