from what i see dinesh karthik is wearing a baseball helmet instead of a regular cricket helmet on the field today. is this even allowed :ashamed:

yes he is doing that from many matches now. almost from 1st match i guess.u noticed it today?i dont know if its allowed or not. but since he is been wearing it from many matches. it must have be allowed.

Actually this practice was started by McGlashan, the NZ wicket Keeper...he wore it during the 2nd ODI between the recent India NZ series...maybe it is allowed....AC

heh icc and the rules. what happened to the double sided bats. are they allowed or banned? i guess ICC does not care as long as something controversial is going on.

Some time back they pointed that ponting using a bat which is illegal.......at that point of that pontng was in form of his life.......and he was ruthless during those period......

The bat that Ponting used was graphite reinforced...which is thought to give more power to the shots that he played....and that was considered unfair...but i dont think this helmet/face guard gives any major advantage...this only helps in enhanced safety....maybe thats why there is not much noise...but who knows....ICC is known to wake up a little late on things...AC

I also feel its not a big issue at all......and also i am happy to see these kind of face guard being used in cricket.........:thumb:

i think that its just a show off and nothing much. cricket helmets also go thru safety tests and must be equally safe.

The guard which karthik is wearing is useful only for keeping ......and as you said its mainly its just show offf thing......

I think it's time for all the 'keepers to wear that kinda helmet. Since it doesn't have a big gap in front of the eyes, unlike the regular helmets, it seems to be more safe and suited for wicket keepers.

It is difficult for the keepers to take high catches with the regular helmets. This baseball helmet will give a good visibility for high catches. Some Australian keeper (I guess it is Ryan Campbell) used this kind of helment during the Indian Cricket League matches.-Ravi

why especially twenty20? is type of injury going to be different based on type of cricket?
