Prices have already risen by ~500-600 bucks... Further price rise is expected. First $ crisis & now this. 🙁

hard disks are probably as complicated as micro-processors these days. india simply do not have the resources to provide a good environment for manufacturing of such products. intel was once planning to establish a chip manufacturing plant in india. they picked israel over india simply because of the infrastructure problems in india.

I don't like tablets. Govt of india's next gadget sponsor should be a 1tb SSD(read write 1000MB/s) for 500 rupees.

Expect these high prices stay for around six months. WD manufacturing facilities are affected. Segate is safe and they just increased price to make some cash.

@ nehru place they are not even telling the price of HDD these days , they call 1st to check the rates LOL

Not Knowing the prices of Internal Seagate HDD I went to the Shop. When i asked him about 1TB Hdd he said its for Rs 5000.I was wondering why he was Telling me that much. When i came back home and checked the prices online I was surprised to see the prices g up twice. 4 Months back i bought a 1Tb Hdd for 2750. Now its Freaking 5000.

Wonder how long its gonna take for the price to come back to normal... (I was lucky to get a WD 2TB Caviar Green for 70$ from US just a month ago now it is @ freaking 175$ )

^ when i was Leaving the shop. He was reducing the price to 4500. I am sure he is selling 4 Months old stock. These people are Surely Keeping the old stock and selling it for new price.

yep... Plain Black marketing... In Hyderabad the hardware stores are part of a syndicate.. almost all of them have raised the prices quite evenly...

Many shops are indicating that prices may go up in another week. So the shopkeeper is asking me to buy an HDD now itself.

Is the recent surge in HDD prices because of the floods in Thailand? Any idea if prices will return back to normal anytime soon?I bought a 2TB seagate external powered driv for 5600 from SP road 6-7 months back. Today the model costs 8K odd in Flipkart.:blink3:
