Customers from other circles in the state also faced similar problems on Saturday. Mahendra said there was no intention to bring inconvenience to the customers. The services were disconnected on failure of payment of dues. When contacted, officials from mobile services providing companies, including Idea and Vodafone and Airtel, stated that they will not be able to comment on this particular issue as it is being handled and addressed by the Cellular Operators Association of India (COAI) and the BSNL.Vivek Velankar of the Sajag Nagrik Manch said, "The BSNL should have notified customers before disconnecting the services. The sudden break left the customers paralyzed. The BSNL should have taken the customers into confidence before taking such extreme step of disconnecting its services." Velankar also asked why customers were forced to face problems when they pay their bills.Shailesh Gujar of Parivartan, an NGO said, "The issue was taken up with the BSNL officials at the Pune level since morning. Communication was established with the BSNL's headquarters to restore the landline services."
