hmm.. i wouldn't believe this ...

Even I read one article few months back that they are launching Tablets priced @ Rs 8000. But 3000 is unbelievable price condition specification are not upto mark.

one simple thing. a 500 rupee phone was game changer because the phone was usable. it was capable of making phone calls. 3000 rupee tablet is not a game changer because a tablets are not phones. they do not have a simple function of making and receiving phone calls.

^^^ They may still allow to view/edit documents and browse internet for some basic websites like gmail, if not high end games. What else can we expect?

The launch is only months away and still nothing is mentioned about the tariffs. All it says is it would be cheaper than 3G, but that's hardly enough since 3G is insanely expensive. Let's hope Reliance does manage to revolutionize the broadband connection as they did with cell phones.

Wish Like Reliance Infocomm Monsoon Hungama, Reliance Infotel comes up with Winter Hungama and revolutionize wireless Broadband.

tablets for 3000-4000 are surely going to be subsidized that's for sure and seeing the financial muscle of mukeshbaba it could be very high initially, don't get suprised if u get a 10k tablet at 3k with a long contract(emi factored in) and some massive subsidy of course.

subsidizing does not work well in the indian market. they can of course take the route of locking the devices to their own network for wireless internet connectivity. but that is not going to work out well for them.

Do u really think they will disclose even their vendors leave alone a far of thing such as tariff. Only expect tariffs on launch day.

About tariffs in terms of competition they are sure to create a tornado, otherwise if they keep high prices than mukeshbaba can bid adieu his 10k cr. :smileysimmons:

I was saying in terms of predatory subsidy, the money which was never intended to be earned back.:handcuffs:
Say like 4k initial upfront payment, 3k factored in emi@2-3 years, 3k given from company's pocket. The costs will not be that high seeing the overall costs like 1-2 million tablets will cost 300-600 crore.:applause:

Unlike cellphone in the days of "Monsoon Hungama" tablets today are a completely different segment. In those days smartphones were almost non existent & at that time main purpose of cell phones was to make/receive calls.. In today's scenario tablets have important hardware on which they run & function. Each part affects the overall experience. Even if Reliance tablet is highly subsidized to sell at a cost of Rs. 3k. Its unlikely that it would have sufficient muscle & its hardware would definitely be severely limited affecting its speed & overall experience... Also don't forget that Reliance has a history of getting greedy pretty soon...

^ if a 10-12k tablet is more than enough in terms of hardware then i hope my last post's logic holds good....:smiley-cool06:

^. You cannot compare a 3k tablet to a 12k one in terms of hardware power & when it comes to Indian consumers they are always finicky about price... We all know the phone provided with Monsoon Hangama scheme was very limited & same would be for a 3k tablet. You cannot expect most people to get the tablet priced @ 12k in India for mass connections... Common consumers would avoid it & hence limiting the chance of a successful proposition for Reliance...

^ you didn't read my second last post did you? I talked there about the probable financing model of a 10-12k tablet.

That may or may not work 'coz in today's high interest rate period, financing companies or even Reliance may not take that chance...
