Sony says to recall 1.6 mln LCD TVs globally
:scared:

TOKYO (Reuters) - Sony Corp will recall 1.6 million of its Bravia brand LCD televisions worldwide after several incidents of TV sets emitting smoke or parts melting due to faulty components, a company official said on Wednesday.

The 11 incidents all took place in Japan, but the faulty parts may affect TV sets sold around the world, the company said in a news release.

There have been no reports of injuries or of damage to anything other than the televisions, Sony said.

The televisions subject to recall were manufactured in 2007 and 2008 and were mostly sold in Europe and the United States, although some were also sold in Japan and other parts of the world, a Sony spokeswoman said. The company will issue an advisory to customers on its websites and by e-mail.

you know the best part?

they are not recalling these affected sets in india.

instead the company would respond to complaints and repair the issues for free.

so if your house catches fire because of these issues, you can only guess if it was the tv.

Sony india needs to be kicked in the arse for this attitude.

Sony on Wednesday recalled 1.6 million Bravia liquid crystal display (LCD) TV sets sold worldwide since 2007 to rectify a faulty component that can cause them to melt or catch fire But the global consumer electronic giant has no plans to recall any Bravia LCD TVs sold in India, a spokesman for the company told Business Line on Wednesday.

Well all the owners of these models should set the TV on fire and claim news ones... 😛

Still Western countries and even the east they dont treat us well....I guess there are some issues in using Blackberry devices in India....and i guess they have not sorted out the issues....

Its solved now. Blackberry service is stable since morning.

According to a Sony India spokesperson, the affected models are KLV-40W300A & KLV-40X350A. Responding to a query from this correspondent, the spokesperson sent a brief statement: “It has come to our attention through reports in Japan that in rare cases a particular component incorporated in certain models of 40-inch Bravia LCD TVs, mostly launched between 2007-08, was damaged and as a result may overheat and at times ignite inside the TV set, possibly melting a part of the cabinet ceiling due to the heat.”

Thanks God, the one I purchased 2 months back is LED and KDL series. 😛leasantry:

I was thinking about you when i posted this article but i was also aware that you purchased LED....Regarding Blackberry got a tweet from Akshay Kumar that his Blackberry is working fine from morning....
