Hello everyone

I have been using airtel from the past 5-6 years but now planning to change because of their ordinary plans. Now reliance is one company I probably hate the most but then their broadband plans are too tempting that I am considering of taking a risk and trying that it may actually work. But I have some queries. Would be glad if you can provide some feedback-

1.) Does reliance have always ON internet?

Currently I have connected the airtel modem to router and use internet on 2 laptops and cell phones many times even simultaneously. Would that be possilbe with reliance? If I am not wrong one has to always enter login details through browser for a reliance connection? And would it be possible to share the connection on 2 or more devices at the same time?

2.) Does reliance usually provide the speed they mention?

I am considering 1 Mbps unlimited plan for Rs 999. If everything goes well would I be getting 1 Mbps speed regularly just as in airtel?

3.) How is the service network and stability?

Though i know it is not very good if internet reviews are to go by and I believe on a large scale it depends from city to city. So if anyone is from Chandigarh then it would be great if they can provide some feedback.

4.) Any other things I should consider or worry about?

Regards

i tried getting a reliance connection a couple of months ago. i was clearly told that they do not have an automated system for login. you can probably run some script that would work for you but it would still require a computer to be on to connect you. and i think you need to login at least once every 24 hours. as for the other queries i think it would depend upon from one area to another. speeds are supposed to be fine. uploads might not be as fast as they are on airtel.

Thanks for the reply! I had read the thread made by you but do not remember the details. If I am not wrong the connection never got activated due to some reasons!!If one has to login would it be possible to share the connection between 2 computers and cellphones over wifi or only one can access using the password at one time?

well my case was different. i applied for the connection and then decided not to get it. so i did not get the wiring installed. never took the connection itself. but they activated the damn thing in their backend because of the paperwork that was filed by me. as for sharing the connection, you can get a wireless or regular router that can connect the internet to multiple devices. but you would have to login through their web form manually from one of the devices connected.

Ohk! I would probably visit reliance store once and ask about the details of the plan and other things. Though I am not very sure if I would be swtiching over to reliance. Though their plans are very good the name of the company and its reputation is down the drain.I might probably go for bsnl ULD 1350. 4 Mbps till 20 Gb and 512 Kbps thereafter.

reliance has only one plan worth going for 999 for 1mbps unlimited. the only other decent plan is i think 8mbps for 2600 that drops down to 1 or 2mbps after 80GB i think.

Ok so I went to reliance office today and enquired about the connection. The news is that they do not have the feasibility in my area which seemed a little surprising at 1st but then on 2nd thoughts not so surprising as noone buy their connections! 😀 😀So I guess it would be bsnl now!

Ya that might be true. I have had reliance dth in the past so I know about the company and thus had decided not to buy ANY reliance product in the future.

However with the broadband since the plan seemed so good I was planning to take a gamble. Around 500 Rs. installation charges and Rs 1000/- per month so if it had not worked I would have lost about Rs 1500/- but if it did work then could 1 Mbps @ 999 was a good deal.

reliance is really good in wire-line broadband ... i m using it from last 2 years and no major problem in billing and services tooo. 🙂

Right now Reliance is offering waiver of installation charge as a Diwali offer.

Simply avoid Reliance. Be careful about their promised vs actual speed. They have a simple answer "Congestion is there in your locality (irrespective of wherever it us). Service will be restored soon. But the story will continue. Also be careful with their billing procedures. Simple Cheats.

yes I think. Even i too applied for reliance wired broadband on 1\12\2011 and still waiting for connection

Actually I had one Earlier but it was 500Kbps unlimited connection. So i couldn't find the download Usage
