So guys we know tht MRCA bids will be out after 7th October .. So its sometime by this month end the deal will be finalized .. Its a $10 billion deal and US backed F16s r already rejected ..

Air force has shortlisted Eurofighter Typhoon and Dassault Rafale ..

This is typhoon .. It is build by 4-5 countries from europe .. So there may be technology transfer issues cos of multiple parties ..





and this is Rafale .. Build by france ..

Both the planes are more or less similar though eurofighter has an edge on rafale. It is a newer plane with more modern tech and India will not only absorb tech but also become a partner in the four countries consortium.

But again buying EF will not help India strategically as the nations behind it have almost no political clout. France's on the other hand is much more heavier globally which could help India in the long run. moreover snemca is jointly developing the jet engine for LCA mkII which will bring synergies and lower costs.....

At the end it is a tough decison....India has to choose weighing all its options.

Germany and UK r quite influential .. Germany's military is although nothing but technology wise they r way ahead ..UK as we know is a big power ..Thing is India is buying heavily from France and it may not be a good idea to be dependent on a single country ..But I do agree it is going to be a difficult situation .. But whtever is best for air force should be chosen .. No political or economic condition should be taken in account while making the decision ..

Exactly .. F16 were so outdated and they deserved to be thrown out .. It was good tht govt didn't bent infront of US ..Let armed forces decide wht is needed by them .. About US's tech transfer they had a ball till they didn't trade with India. Now they will have to understand that it is no ordinary buyer and has to treat it with respect :bat:. I think the c17's which we got don't come with advanced gps and other techs thanks to India not signing Cismoa agreement. Anyway's India cares shit abt that we will soon have our Gagan and access to Glonass.

F16 of pakis will be utter crap in a few years...don't know if the recent aids also contain spare parts but if US stops giving them all their so called mighty F16's will be grounded. They can't even build a nut on their own..utter crap.:silly:

For some reason I was under the impression that Rafale would be the winner.We've had a good realtion with them and their nuke tech is of interest as well.Get a twofer for a bargain.

at this point it will be much better for IAF to get anything and stop killing pilots, in out dated mig's and jag from 70's plus stop wasting any more money on LCA the aircraft which was to spearhead our air force and which is still in development after nearly 35 yrs on it !! for the 1st time we have lost our air superiority edge over pakistan and china can have us for breakfast. personally i will go for rafale it has a huge jump on others on the table for time being.

Naa.. we never have lost edge against pakis in air superiority .. They r too small to dominate in war .. We already have Sukhoi SU 30MKI, Mig 29, Mirage 2000 .. Tht is more than enough for pakis ..But yeah MIG 21 r still over 100 in service and they r flying caskets .. Will be totally out of service by 2012-13 ..And we never had the edge against chinese .. They already have made the stealth locally .. So they r way ahead ..

Only way we can beat China is to beat them in ground battle. But we are out-numbered there too. But battles are won by courage and not numbers.Only other option is hope China's defense technology is not as great as it claims. Scaring an enemy is half battle won, so we can hope that China makes all those claims just to scare the enemy.But then if we see, our most electronic products are made in china, so its unlikely that they dont really have that powerful technology. So yeah, ground battle is the only way.

even India can easily do what the Chinese are doing but they dnt want thx to the corruption and fuked up Govts ..rather India would just buy and expect other countries to tell them everything about their tech lol 😛
