Its now available @ Flipkart for 15200...

@SVK - Planning to buy now - eh? 😀

Yes, I would like to buy. But I will wait till WP Tango is released and see what Nokia and others offer 🙂

Bought Omnia W finally for 14500.

My first impression about using it is "awesome" 🙂

Would explore more and update here 🙂

First short review of my Samsung Omnia W😛ositives -- Display quality excellent.- Touch response is very good as well (Most of my friends who already have touchscreen phone said that Omnia W has best touch screen response).- Network coverage is ok, Phone displays some signal in areas in which my Nokia N95 had no signal at all (e.g. lift) for Vodafone.- Phone dimension (size and weight) is as per my expectation, it fits well in my hand as well as pocket.- Battery lasts almost 2 days, though my usage is moderate, where I use for calling 30 min, games 30 min, music 30 min, and I switch off internet at night.- Battery saver feature which displays time remaining and also switch-off Bluetooth, WiFi, Internet after battery reaches certain level.- Good sync with Facebook (options for Linkedin, Twitter also available, but I didnt try that). Apps also available for this Social Networks services.- Contacts are sync with Windows Live account and can be updated online, which are automatically updated in phone while phone is having active internet connection.- Internet Speed is good (100~300 Kbps on Idea 2G Network)- WiFi hotspot for Internet sharing.- MS Office support to view/edit MS documents.- Front Camera for Video Calling. Samsung has provided app for Video Calling over 3G.- Push email works very well for Gmail and Hotmail (I tried so far these 2 only). Support for Micrsoft Exchange account email available as well.Negatives -- No Bluetooth file transfer (well known negative point of WP7)- No option to send MS documents like Word, Excel, Ppt by USB or Zune. Only option is to send by email or Skydrive- Angry birds game is not free (I guess its free in Android and iOS).Neutral -- Camera quality is ok, neither good, nor bad.- Apps content is also ok, so far I found most of apps which I use.I will keep adding more points as I discover them 🙂

Good choice! But WP8 is just around the corner? you could have waited more but still, WP is smart choice.. simple and uncluttered!

I had no issues with WP7, and I am not expecting WP8 would come to Omnia W. If it comes, then its good.
BTW I wanted to try some/different new OS, so I opted for WP7, and it fit in my budget as well (price less than Rs 15K 🙂 ).

well we hardly use bluetooth now-a-days for sharing files. However it may be a pain in the ass for people who use bluetooth headsets. Phone looks awesome though

Hey wait! WP connects well to the bluetooth headsets! All major bluetooth accessories are supported. Its just that file sharing and tethering isn't supported via bluetooth.@ SVKI still hope that current WP 7.5 devices are supported by WP8. Take my word, WP8 will be a huge step forward (even if hardware side like dual core or high res. screen support kept aside) and people will really feel happy if they get that on current hardware. I have recommended Omnia W and Lumia 710 to many people and majority of them are already happy!

Strangely, I was under similar impressions until I sent across many pics on Bluetooth to my colleagues this week, and prior to that, transferred 2 GB of songs from one of my phones to the other, due to sheer laziness to pick up a cable and do the honours

You can use bluetooth headsets with it. it does have bluetooth. Non filesharing is a software limitation.

Some new phones have WiFi direct. it should get popular in the future.

You answered about bluetooth headset, yes it is supported. But I havent tried it yet.

I would be very happy if WP8 is available, in couple of months we would know. There is also rumor that old phones running Mango OS (WP7.5) would be upgraded to WP7.7 which would have all features and changes of WP8.

Ok just a small thought here... If WP7.7 will have all the features of WP8 then y will it be called WP7.7 in the 1st place & not WP8???

WP8 is perhaps developed for some particular chipset which would be present in new handsets. Current handsets "may" therefore not support WP8. So they would update current handsets to WP7.6/WP7.7 (this is rumor on some tech websites, but nothing is confirmed). But it doesnt matters what is new version called, until they provide some most awaited features in WP like Bluetooth file transfer and Memory mode for handset. (NFC, etc is also considered).

am waiting for the 'fragmentation' to appear on the windows phone platform. microsoft made a big deal out of android fragmentation knowing that they would be facing the same in the future. to save face, they would have to match/beat Apple's support for older devices and that means three years worth of updates. this is going to be hard because current generation windows phone devices are almost as underpowered as the first generation android phones were relatively speaking.

you will have to wait more to see WP platform fragmented. old devices aren't not supporting next major release can't be exactly called fragmentation unless and until there is 100% software compatibility between two versions. microsoft is pretty clear about this since they are talking about next WP release that all current and future WP apps/games will run on all devices with minimum requirement of WP7.5. then why WP8 wont run on WP7 is because of introduction of NT kernel and use of different chip set. again they are making these changes to make OS more future proof and more compatible with desktop windows. i don't even see fragmentation coming to this platform in long term. they are quite a lot going the Apple way.
