Hi all!I want to discuss a problem which i have been facing for past 1 week. I am getting variable speed from p2p applications like utorrent. I have a home 699 unlimted plan according to which i shud get abt 16kB/s speed but it ranges from 0.1 to 7. No problems with http or ftp downloads. Have my ports forwarded. This didn't happen b4. I am a movie downloader thus i need to download as well as seed files upto 4GB but with this speed its not possible 🙁Pls help me!(I'll post a flash file soon)Regards,Gaurav

looolz 16... in ur dreams...or mor appropriately in our dreams 😉 😉i get about 13 at max on p2p or http. are u getting normal speeds ( around 12-13) on http or even there u get around 7 ????

hmmm... even I have been getting poor speeds, but I figured it was probably just that particular torrent.... maybe there is something funny going around?

ya torrent are very unreliable often even with 20+ seeders i hv been getting speeds below 5 and conversely with NO seeders i once was getting 27kBps(at night). So try out 3 or 4 torrents, if the problem persists then baaki log kuch Bata denge, kaafi "intelligent" log hain yahan 😛 😛 😛........and thats inclusive of urs truly 😛 😛

The general rule is not to expect 13-14 KB/s speeds you otherwise get in http downloads - Although utoorent downloads at 12-14 KB/s for me,a lot dependson the tracker, the no.of seeds & the speed the seeders have!

i have a torrent which has more than 400 seeders and the tracker is link-removed. Tried on many other trackers though but still the same. I get 16 KB/S speed from http downloads.

Did you accidentally interfere with any of your P2P application's settings? You might already know all this but just a suggestion - if you are using uTorrent, check the 'Advanced' section in the menu 'Options -> Preferences -> Advanced+'. Are all values set-up properly? Have u set 'max half-open' to slightly under 100 & tried changing 'peer.lazy_bitfield' to either 'true' or 'false' and then tried it again? Check all the other settings too(dht, ipfilter). There might be some other genuine problem in your case which is causing you those low speeds, but make sure it has nothing to do with the settings in the p2p app. For more on the settings for uTorrent, read the uTorrent FAQ at their website & check out Google for 'JohnTP + torrent + increase speed' & use the link which you get there (at JohnTP's blog, i think) to tweak the settings.

You would know this, but I still wanna ask you : Do you seed till Ratio 1? Especially since you download Movie files in GB amounts. This is not wrt the file you are downloading now,but also on the past torrents you downloaded.Did you seed till ratio 1 on most of them ?

Coz,Not only private torrents, some public torrents also share data on ip address that leech heavily and consequently speed drops.

Also, have you tried changing your p2p client?

i think i even face the same problem with utorrent , also i dont think that a public tracker monitors if u keep ur ratio 1 or not. What u need in torrents is a good seeder. When u hv ppl wid good uploads seedin u will hv no problems with the torrent

lolz in a public tracker u don't register, so how in the world can they keep track of u, especially when ur ip is dynamic???Private trackers do keep track but publicno, not atleast till u register there.
