2Mbps download speeds on 15Mbps connection

In Delhi most of us are still fighting for 2MBps speeds btw 😛

First you want 2 mbps..once u get that, 15mbps!! after getting 15 mbps..u want 100 mbps!! xP
 
Somehow my posts containing links to the speedtest result are being blocked by the moderator.
However here are the test results from speedtest -
Download speed : 2.05 Mbps
Upload speed : 10.47 Mbps
Server : Mumbai

In Ranjith's video above, the speeds are
Download speed : 13.3 Mbps
Upload speed : 7.6 Mbps

So there seems to be some problem at the Beamtele end.

Yep looks like you are FUP'ed so you are getting the 2Mbps now........ I think for Rs 1000 i.e 10 Mbps plan its upto 10 Mbps for the first 30 GB and after that 2 Mbps, so logon to the beam portal and see how much bandwidth you have used this month, check again on the 1st or 2nd of next month and check the speeds again.
 
@Ranjith : Doesn't seem to be the case, as I got the connection only 10 days back. The Beamtele portal shows only 4.5 GB usage. There must be something else going on.

That usage meter is not working properly

Apparently my usage is shown till 20th September 2011.
download usage is just 6.95 Gb according to Beam Usage meter and it is approx the same Matches my Readings of bandwidth meter software .

Beam's connection speeds have been erratic this month. I was getting less than 2 Mbps on my 15Mbps connection a couple of weeks ago. A couple of complaints later speeds went up to 15-20Mbps. Now for the past few days speeds have gone down again to around 7Mbps. Raised a complaint again. The bandhs here in Hyderabad are not helping. Their response times have been really bad lately.
 
Yep I did notice erratic speeds for about 2 days last week, and then for a couple of hours about 4 only about 20% of the sites were loading properly even google was timing out enquired and they said some issues with their TATA backbone line, but again its fine now.
 
I had to change to google dns to sort out. Few website were not loading. now that Google dns is Working fine for browsing but download speeds are pathetic.

If Singapore and Portugal and South Korea can have 1 Gbps from last 5 years, then why can't we ask for it now? What's greedy in that?

I agree it's not greed but the mental attitude of the stupid big ISP's of india like BSNL, Reliance and Airtel who think that 2Mbps is more than enough.... I am sick of BSNL whom have gone into deep slumber........ unless these big ISP's wake up, they just want to milk the average consumer coz they know he does not have much choice the average broadband speeds in India will be pathetic just coz of their reach, I feel I am truly lucky to have a ISP like Beam but I just hope thing improve in the rest of India and the big ISP's wake up!
