of course. 😕

500 bucks would be more than enough for them to activate your card for you and recharge it for a year long term.

The reason that it needed clarification is that Georgia, Ukraine and many other countries have shadow economies operating (sadly for them) in US dollars - some people even get paid in USD and then have to go to little forex exchange places to get the money changed in to the local currency, in Georgia's case, Lari.

Probably noone remembers this picture? this picture

Interesting, can it be done directly at shop? without calling out installers? because I may not have enough free time - Our company buys some heavy machinery in India and I'm member of quality check group.

Well, not all is "shadow". I'm working in private company and my salary is fixed in US $. And of course I'm receiving it in local currency, according to current exchange rate. Considering that USA is largest donor for Georgia and provided several bilions of US $ as gift in latest years, it's quite understandable, why US $ is often used as equivalent of some "amount".

Actually you might be able to do that. Many shop owners know the phone number of their local technicians and can call them to get it activated. Which city are you visiting in India? Maybe some of us can check out with our local dealers.

The city of arrival will be Delhi, and then we'll go to another city, forgot it's name, but it's quite far from Delhi (need to take plane), and is center of machinery manufacturing (we've placed order on tea cropping machines). I'll check the name tomorrow, have agenda at office.

Hey dude,

It's indeed possible and the local shop dealer would be the perfect person to do it for you. You'll probably need a local with you too, they'll register the box on the shop address and get it activated instantly (it took around 2 hours for my case, albeit an odd one) and since you need a bigger dish, just take the set-top-box and the LNB, and give the dish as a present to the dealer 😛

I'm not exactly sure who does like that, other members would be able to give you the exact dealer address in Delhi since I'm from the southern side of India 🙂

Thanks, I don't even need LNB - I have bunch of Invacoms lying around. Now, back to pricing😛roduct description Tata Sky HD set top box + Standard installation + Annual Mega Pack + 12 showcase moviesMRP: Rs 8779 This is less than $200 US $, right?

Yes, I already checked it with google, but price looks to be unbelievable low (to prices in Europe in Russia, where similar packages cost at least 500-800 euros per year). So this is why I wanted to double check it.

ya becz all channels aren't really HD and there is nothing much great coming on TV here apart from mostly Indian Soap Operas ( which aren't really good to begin with )...I think it would be great to imagine u and ur Indian friend watching them together once u get ur Box 😛

I want to ask, music channels on Tata Sky also have semitransparent logo in the middle of the scree, as FTA music channels have? This is very funny thing, noticed only on Indian channels, logo in the center of the screen 🙂

Maybe he means the transparent logo that some music channels put to avoid Music videos being ripped off their channel and broadcasted by Cable Operators.

Exchange rate isnt always a good yardstick to measure buying power of a currency

I am on Tata Sky, have never noticed any logo in the middle of the screen..

This is done by some South Indian Music channels I guess, but none of Hindi Music Channels have logo in centre

Thanks everyone very much for your input and help. Next week I'll be in Delhi and will try to keep you informed as things are going on 🙂

And final question, what is the website for Zee Network package at 105.5E? I can't find it (there's Zee Network website, but no word on pricing). Channels seem to be almost same as Tata Sky, but encoding is Conax, not VideoGuard, so it'll be easier to use alternate receiver.
