Blocking stolen or lost mobile phones

Wud be really interesting if it works effectively. I mean, there wud be no erason why someone cud steal ur cell! The moment its stolen, all u have to do is just put the request to block the cell itself completely! Why wud someone purchase that phone from the thief then?
 
well from what i have heard, it is not tough for mobile repair people to modify the IMEI number on a device. 😕 they even offer service to add an IMEI number to a phone that does not have it. 😕
 
Thats bad really! then i think the bsiness of changing IMEI shud be declared illegal! Does it offer any other utility other than this?
 
I think it is technically possible even now. But then people who steal are smart and can change firmware and IMEI number, so the phone almost becomes like fresh new handset.
 

actually every day a message comes to my dads phone from my stolen corby regarding the mobile number and IMEI number of my corby! 🙁 we went to police station but since i lost it at bombay...police said we cant do anything! 🙁 but luckily friend of my dad got transferred to bombay and he said he'll try to bring it back 🙂 PS: police only track ur mobile if u go to them with assistance of any powerful authority.! i mean like MLA recommendation or DGP's ! :_

actually its a simple work...tracking mobile phones...just lodge an FIR and then one or two constables accompany u to operator head office( in my case Tata DOCOMO ) and mobile can be tracked in 10 mins from the office( only if the mobile is switched on) my sis last year lost Sony ericsson naite last year and got it back like this! a canteen guy from her college took it after she forgot her mobile on table .!
 
the point is that most police stations would not even file an FIR. you would either have to pay a bribe or fulfill some bullcrap formality. my own experience here in Gurgaon. i was told to get some affidavit prepared from some lawyer in the court before they would file an FIR. they just look for excuses not to file FIRs because lower numbers look better on crime charts.

Actually i have a bad news for u bro!
hyderabads DGP's son studies in my sis college....it was he who told his dad to call PS and made them trace my sis mobile back! -_-
Either have money or influence if u want to get ur work done in GOvt offices! :C
