i was thinking of getting a reliance postpaid connection on cdma, basically i have heard that cdma call quality in terms of voice etc is outstanding and there is nothing at par with it. i have previously never used a reliance cdma phone, though i had gsm prepaid and the service was pathetic they kept on deducting balance, if i got a service stopped at 10 am in the morning which they had started on there own it would start again by 10 pm in the evening, i was frustrated with this so i ported out. so all i want to know is how is the call quality and do they give fraud bills or deduct balance in prepaid own there own and also how is the coverage besides the call quality coz i would like to use the number as my primary number, how is the coverage in basements etc coz normally i find airtel signal present there. i am also thinking of getting an unlocked blackberry 9930 from the united states just because i want to have great call quality and good coverage. so if you guys could help it would be great.

i have been using tata indicom for years now. have never faced any problems. reliance? they have been a headache the moment i touch them.

Since, you've already stated that you found their gsm service pathetic. Why go through the same experience with cdma ? If you really want to take cdma, look for some other provider like tata indicom (pretty good network) or mts ( I have no idea how it is)

I have been using Reliance CDMA since last 7 yrs and i found it the most reliable one in terms of Network Coverage. In between I have switched to almost all leading telecom networks, but still feels that inspite of all bad things about it, Reliance CDMA is the best one. I have used Reliance CDMA in Delhi, MP, CG, All over Maharashtra, Mumbai and never faced any Issue regarding Network coverage.regarding Balance deduction, it happens across in all telcos. I would suggest you to go for Postpaid connection. On the 1st bill itself you will get enough satisfaction. Now a days, I feel that Reliance Bills are most detailed , simplified and transparent one.Even I have used Reliance Blackberry Services and found it better than Vodafone Blackberry . Every now and then there is some issues going on in VF now a days. Also in terms of Call charges and rentals, no one can beat Reliance.

@IndianMascotAren't idea call rates cheaper than Reliance ? (I maybe wrong, in that case, do point me in the right direction)

Idea and Reliance go hand on hand. Instead I wud say, Idea tariff is challenging every operator in Mumbai. Below are two plans to have an easy comparision.

Operator - Idea
Monthly Rental - Rs 249
Benefit - Free minutes(local and National) + 400 SMS + 512 MB Free GPRS Usage

Charges:
Idea to Idea - 0.30
Idea to others - 0.40
Idea to fixed - 0.50
STD - 0.50
SMS - 0.20

Operator - Reliance GSM
Plan Name - RG3GSuperCombo199
Free Usage: Video Call - 15 Min(local+STD), Mobile Internet - 50 MB, Voice Usage - Rs 150 , SMS - Rs 25 & Data Usage - Rs 512
Call Charges: Voice Call (Local & STD) - 0.50 per minute
Video Call (Local & STD) - 0.05 per second
SMS Charges: Local & National - 0.5

I find both the plan economical in terms of rental. Although I wud prefer Idea in both the plans bcoz I have very less requirement of Video Calls and 3G Services. But both of these are GSM Plans. Lets see Reliance CDMA Plans.

Operator - Reliance CDMA

Monthly Rental - 199
Benefit - Free Talktime Rs 150 (local + STD)
Charges - 0.01p/sec

Monthly Rental - 399
Benefit - Free Talktime Rs 399 local+ STD (= 798 minutes)
Charges - 0.50 p/min

Plan sud be chosen according to requirement else it become a unnecessary expense.

P.S: These are calculations for Mumbai Circle. May differ in different circles.

nooo dnt go fr Reliance fr god sake.....u might just get exaggerated bills...

There is no better coverage than CDMA technology. I have experience with both CDMA and GSM , Once you use CDMA you will never be satisfied with GSM technology.Reliance bills for CDMA is very reasonable.
