Hi,i have bought a new 46' LED TV (Samsung Smart TV), i was looking to buy (DTH) a perfect match for my TV, after researching for quite sometime, i found out that Videocon D2H would be the best in-terms of Signal during rain, number of HD channels and price being offered.I have been reading this forum for 1 week now, i went through each section of different DTH provider to review my research and as i thought Videocon D2H is the best. There were a few threads which held me back in my decision, the thread started by pkarthik24 on the clarity and the Quality issue.i would like IndianMascot and Jaymin to guide me through this procurement.@IndianMascot - can you tell me on how to find whether the signal strength and Quality is 100%? i want to make sure that when the installation is done its done to its perfection the first time. i believe you have provided a screen shot somewhere in the forum but i was not able to find it.@Jaymin & @IndianMascot - what other things i need to keep in mind when the installation is done? what are the things i need to look for? Thanks in Advance Nandakumar

After checking some more threads, found out how to check the Signal and Quality Strength. i don't have a D2H as of now but here is the steps to check it1. Go to Settings > Installation2. Press 1234 for the first prompt3. Then 4th, 6th, 8th & 10th DIGIT of ur 11 digit Serial number on STB for the second prompt.if i get more details i will post it here... until then its just a wait and watch

Hey buddy, Even I forget where I have posted, Would try to find out and paste the link here.

At the time of Installation, d2h engineers would be having Digital LNB Meter. So, you can see the Quality and Signal Strength on that LNB meter only. Quality should be 100% . Strength would be in between 85-95 %. In my case Quality is 100% and Strength is between 95-100%.

PQ depends on Quality Signal, so it sud be 100 %.

Other things to be taken care is as them for Larger size Dish 90 cm and cabling to be clipped inside your home. Rest Jaymin cud guide if i missed something. 🙂

Its somewhat correct. Would provide exact steps by evening if till then no one posts.

Thanks IndianMascot, will wait for your reply for the steps for checking PQJust one more question, will D2H do good for 46' LED TV? hope it doesn't give a clarity issue after having 100% Quality from D2H.

Nope Dude, there won't be any such probem, bcoz I am myself using it on Sony Bravia 40". HD Channels look simply awesome whereas SD Channles was having some PQ Issues earlier, but after Picture Setting Calibration , SD channels look nice now.

To Check Signal Strength in STB:

1. Menu >> Setup >> Installation ,
2. Installation Code - 1234
3. Box Setting >> Satellite Management
4. Secret Code - 4th, 6th, 8th & 10th DIGIT of ur 11 digit VC Card Number

Two Green Bars on Bottom right shows Quality and Strength !!!

You can find pictorial representation in below thread:

Thanks IndianMascot, this would be very helpful to check post installation. One more Question.Did you happen to check how the clarity when rains? seems like you had rain just a few days before. was there any interruption in the reception, was there any down time?Awaiting your reply.Regards,Nandakumar

@ Mascot.....

Just visit this thread & post something about HD Zapper - u must be knowing since u had used it.

Ok i accidentally fell on this thread just to draw Mascot's attention. Missed out on this coz of the missing Latest Topics pane & me also being busy in my tasks!

Anyways, now since most things are clear, i wud respond to the last issue of rains.

Well if rains start suddenly on high intensity, then u face a disruption for 5-10 minutes. And generally it restores signal on its own. If it doesnt, then u have to restart the STB from Mains & it works fine.
But if rains set in gradually, then u dont even face this type of issue. The dish is so wide, that u continue to get good quality consistently. But that applies to all DTH which have wide dishes.

Also eventhough Its raining non-stop since morning today, Signal didn't went for a single time.

Hi,I have a basic question regarding installation, this seems a good thread to ask it. Although it is fairly non-technical. I was advised by the Videocon DTH sales person that the HD DVR dish is bigger in size and requires 2 wires to connect the LNB to the STB and the DVR. Now my concern is simply that does videocon provide some mechanism to use the inbuilt cabling and point provided by builders within flats. Because in my flat (and i believe usually as well) there is only one point provided for the connecting the DTH or cable and I want to know whether Videocon like Tata Sky provide some kind of box on both ends i.e. a box to join both wires coming from LNB into one and connect to the cable connection outside my flat and a box inside the flat to again split into 2 wires which connect to both boxes. As per my information, this facility is provided by Tata sky. I am a previous tata sky user but i want to switch to Videocon D2H because of the channel variety on offer. Thanks in advance for inputs.CheersAbhi

This kind of facility is provided by d2h also, but I wud suggest you not to use inbuilt cabling as electric wire running parallel to them cause signal and quality loss. Also as 2 Wires would be coming from LNB to DVR, and only one cable wud be there incase of inbuilt cables. TS uses splitter in place of 2 cables. Technically I can't comment on that, but in d2h it would compulsarily be 2 separate cables .

Thanks for the quick response and your recommendation is understood about preferably not going for the inbuilt cabling. Although I didn't understand clearly - does Videocon provide the joining and splitting appliance as I have stated about Tata Sky w.r.t specifically to the HD DVR installation. Will I be able to use the facility provided by the builder ?

About being forced to use the inbuilt cabling, i am severely constrained by my wife and interior designer who are both against any wires snaking around the place. I had enough trouble in convincing her to have the home theatre in the living room with all the speaker wires etc. So I foresee an uphill battle in case i tell her that there are going to be 2 sets of wires clearly visible to all 😀 !!
