he told this because parthiv dropped pieterson

Thats too much Dakiya.....

Other fielders are quite decent. he was just hinting at Munaf and Parthiv. May be even RD, coz we all know what he is when it comes to fielding. With all due respect to his abilities, his fielding is a concern in shorter formats, where slips are blown away in a matter of minutes.

I know this sounds insulting but but.. my fav scenes from Indian Matches are ones where I see Indian fielders in the infield raise their arms to indicate someone in the deep to field the ball... only to see that their is no one to field...
Common we are never good fielders or batters or bowlers...

INDIAN TEAM ONLY SURVIVES COS OF ITS FANS... WHICH CONVERTS TO ADS.. REVENEUE etc...

heh yeah. and indian media needs to learn about something called metaphor.

That calling is done by all teams. They have to alert the player in the outer ring that the ball is going their way. It looks obvious to us due to the camera work. Else its difficult to gauge at times whether the ball is coming at u or not.We have never been produced good batsmen which is why we have 1 guy aggregating 33k runs in international cricket & almost 100 centuries. That is why we have Top 2 leading run getters in Tests from India.Yeah! The Indian team survives only on Fans. It doesnt survive on any World Cup Wins, or any CB Series wins or such!

well the indian cricket team has the fanbase because of the past laurels and achievements. But this England tour has been nothing short of a complete disaster. Not a single innings score above 300(in fact the highest was exactly 300 - 2nd test i believe). Collective batting failure except Dravid. 50% innings defeats. From 1 to 3(bet Dhoni will not forget he let WI off the hook. He could have saved 2 rating points and kept 2nd place even after this whitewash). Failure to bat out a 20-over inning after being 104-1 around 12th over. Bowling you ask me - I remember reading a fakingnews article which said Sreesanth is supporting Anna by pledging to bowl all day without picking up wickets. England declared 4 of the 6 innings closed out of their own accord for crying out loud. And the icing on the cake - the SCARECROW LIKE FIELDING. Nasser is absolutely right. Maybe he shouldnt have said it on air but facts ought to be honoured and remedies done.

Can u please elaborate a bit more on this??

Fair enough: The last hockey medal at an international level tournament came in the 82 Champions trophy. Hockey was on a downward spiral. People wanted new sporting heroes. And heroes they got the very next year. I am not saying that cricket was not followed before that. It effectively became a religion after that victory. Since then so many decorated players have worn the India colours to keep the interest going Kapil Dev, Sunil Gavaskar, Anil Kumble, Sachin Tendulkar, Saurav Ganguly, Rahul Dravid, VVS Laxman, M S Dhoni (yes he too... not for him being a cricketer but simply for filling the BCCI trophy cabinets).

These players have done the country proud and deserve every bit of the fanbase and the adulation they have come to command. Having said that adulation for the past should not mean we refrain from criticising their present form.

BTW did you note that between Gavaskar and Kumble in the list there is a time void? I sincerely couldnt get to cricketers who I could, you know, add to this list. Just like mhsabir pointed out I too am having a sinking feeling about the future.

The like is for everything except the last line. I think Kumble was playing since the time Kapil Dev and all were there....in early 1990s. And we even had Azhar & Robin Singh & Jadeja. There have been controversies around Azhar & Jadeja, but they were good players. And then comes the future part. This phase is temporary. We had this kind of phase in 2006-07 too. We lost badly in SA, then had a few consolation wins at home & then the World Cup fiasco. But u can very well see the turnaround after that. These guys will come back, if this fiasco was just out of poor form. But if it was something else, i doubt any positives until those factors get rectified.Yes, they have to be criticised when they play bad. No denying that. I am a die hard fan, but not fanatic.

Erm.. seeing the younger lot doesnt really instill confidence in me for one. But yes, I too hope that this was a simple collective form failure. Hope they bounce back soon. I want a good series Down Under. England have a very very good Test side. Australia on the other does not. In fact it is in a similar state as India depending heavily on 1 swashbuckling opener, experienced solid middle order(though India on paper is better), 1 or 2 world class bowlers. But again FIELDING might let India down.

Oh hell... was just checking cricinfo... australia screwed sri lanka over at galle.

I 100% agree with rajiv. I remember the interview of sachin tendulkar when he said that he took cricket seriously when he saw India winning the wordl cup in 1983.He said that "After the win, I wanted to be a swing bowler and bowl like kapil dev ". You can imagine how much interest that win produced. thats why we had players like sachin, dravid, kumble and ganguly. They never played for money. You can easily see the difference between now and then. Now when the child comes he says "I want to play in IPL and want to earn lot of money. Oh yes I want to dance with cheer girls also!!" LOL

Apparently nasser has named the 'donkeys' on some sky interview: parthiv, munaf and PK. Heh... pretty tuff character this hussain chap to take on Pawar Power. Even Ricky Ponting had to damn apologize for pushing the obese donkey off the stage.

Anyone know about the "Grovel" incident? The west indies team answered tony greig in the best way by beating them 4-0 and no one commented that way eversince...
