hi everyone. i recently ported fron idea to bsnl. my old sim(idea) got terminated 2 days back in the night but my new bsnl sim is not yet active.have related the issue to bsnl csc exectives but still sim not activated.pls help. does anyone know how the sim get activated after porting in through mnp in case of bsnl.??

Go to your local exchange and get it sorted out.

went dere today itself. the exeutives said it will be activated by the evening. but here i am with a unregistred n inactive simcard in my Galaxy s.

By executives, do you mean customer service execs? If so, then you need to talk one of the higher ranking officials wrt mobile.Btw were you able to update your phone using kies?

hi, atlast my bsnl no. got activated this morning while i related the issue to csc execs. they told they have forwarded my mnp issue to AGM. and told that my no. was neverconverted to bsnl. while was waiting to meet the agm....juz checked the phone and wallah the sim got activated but the only problem m facing isdata speed is not that fast as it should be. very slow on hsdpa 3.5g and m still getting calls from Idea.nything that can be done to get good speeds.?is there anything i can do...to stop these calls. do i have to talk to idea ppl.?@x720 - no dude...tried a many times but smetimes the connection fails, time-outs, connection error, connection to phone lost.everything goes fine till it starts downloading the firmware update file. have also tried with the kies ver (bundled with the phone)- still no success at all

Are other basic functions viz. Texts, calls and ussd codes working fine. Check that first, then we can work on getting the data issue solved (most likely its an apn issue) As for the kies issue, create a separate thread on google android section of the forum, and someone or I will help you flash the firmware manually, you might also want to look up xda devs, excellent resource for all things android.

yea everything viz. txts, calls, ussd codes are working like charm.only issue is of data speed. very poor still. mine is a 2g prepaid-98rechrge-acessing 3g and hsdpa.apn- bsnlnet.wt could be the issue?

Recharge with frc120 and then check, if you use a 2g pack for 3g you're most likely to get crappy speeds.

dude there cant be more than one FRC (afaik). have already done FRC of 48 on my prepaid yesterday. thou i have an option to migrate to 3g special class.
but in that case what about my validity. its currently 1 yr now.
and will the call rates be affected? i mean i curently now have all @49p. dont wanna mess with call rates.

no i dont wanna add a 3g data plan. the issue is m not only getting a good speed on 2g gprs pack where i used to get way back. (around 150KB/S or upto 1.2mbps) on PChow about this......i read the link you gave (Thanks buddy! 🙂 - never knew a SA and GL 49p plan can be done on 3g too....I take a USim for the same no. and recharge it with 98. will i get the good speed.nw the major scene is that....will my same balance and validity be carried forward to new 3g usim and the call rates i used to have on 2g sim.or i have to again do the FRC on the new Usim. and take a prepaid voice plan again.

You will not get 1.5 mbps ie 150 kBps or higher on 2g plan. On 2g you can expect to get 20 kBps max. As for the other parts about balance being carried forward, you'll have to ask the customer care guys.
