Would an STB bought with a D2H package like SunDirect, DishTV, Videocon etc (Recharged for 1 Year). I have a 90 cm motorised satellite dish (42W - 42E) for receiving FTA channels at the moment. Would I be able to receive encryped indians channels on 28E, 9E etc? Is there any Indian STB that would work within 42W - 42E? Or do I need to purchase a smart card from Europe itself? Thanks in Advance.

Satellites tend to be relatively specific in the geographic area that they broadcast to, so unless the satellites you are connecting to broadcast over both India and whichever part of Europe you're in (I'll assume Ireland), the probability of you being able to receive the same channels as you'd get in India aren't very high.

That being said, you can probably tune the box in to European Satellites if you can give the box the right coordinates and set the dish in the right direction, but as above, you probably wouldn't get any of the Indian channels unless said satellites are broadcasting them.

As for the smart-card, you'll probably need one from a provider that's a little more local in order to tune in to any of the more local satellites although for FTA channels you may not need a smart-card at all unless the receiver specifically requires one to even operate (some do, some don't).

In short, the answer is "not likely, but feel free to take the plunge and give it a try".

There is little or no chance. You can try catching the signals by using a very large dish like 180cm plus but still then chances are bleak, moreover your elevation will be quite low to get line of sight. Indian dth signals are easily catchable in the middle east but ireland seems to be a bit too far in longitude terms.

There is no way from me to grab signals from 95E which most indian channels are broadcasted. The 28.2E, 9E, 13E satellites which i could access now broad cast some indian channels. I would like to know whether these channels which are encrypted would be accessible via an STB bought from India which is beamed by satellites like NSS. Is the encryption satellite specific or channel specific? If it is channel specific I might be able to access the channels from a satellite broadcasting it, via an STB from India (and activated in India).

^ it is operator specific not channel specific ...so no luck.
ur only hope is a local dth op. which provides Indian channels.....

individual channels broadcasted in C band are for MSO/LCO, can only be bought through bulk deals so getting individual channels is almost impossible.

As per devx101 it's operator specific, so if you have a valid smart card from the right operator you would be able to receive said channels anywhere (in theory) - but you'd have to pair up the correct operator/satellite/channel combo for what you want.

The Astra & Hotbird Satellites however don't carry any of the Indian *operators*, so you'll need a smart card from (for example) Sky UK in order to decrypt their signal, in which case you'll get access to whatever Indian channels they are choosing to broadcast, BUT, Eurobird 9 does seem to carry SunTV so there might be the chance of receiving that network.
