From Ahmedabad. Using UnFairtel for 5-6 years now. (remember those firewall attacks back in 2006?) 2 MB for I believe 25-30 GB and 512 kb after that. I pay 1699 which includes taxes and other nonsense. But Unfairtel doesn't provide 4 Mb here . BSNL and Reliance do. But I am quite apprehensive about Switching from Airtel to others as I do not face any downtime and the speed is consistent. I get 280-260 Kb by using IDM.I have used Reliance before in 2007 and it was not great. I faced total black out when the cable cutoff incident happened and I generally faced inconsistent connectivity. No experience with BSNL but haven't heard great things about them as well. Reliance provides 4 mb , 30 GB for 1299 and BSNl privdes the same thing for 1399. So I wll be saving 100-200 ruppees per month for double the speed. But the dilemma is their service and connectivity consistency. Airtel is pretty decent with that. Will these ISPS be able to match that? Those of you here that have experience with these ISPs, what do you suggest?

If your monthly data usage ain't that high, stick with UnFairtel.

In BSNL, even if they promise 4Mbps, the end customer won't (actually can't) get anywhere near that speed due to the poor infrastructure. With Reliance, either it works great or everything goes wrong (billing, speed, etc). So, I'd also suggest to stick with UnFairtel in any case, especially, if you are a business user.

Whether you want to go for reliance or bsnl is entirely your choice. I dumped airtel about 2 years ago over billing discrepancies. Haven't used reliance, but one of my friends had reliance wireline and I remember him having serious billing issues. At my place, bsnl is pretty good, no downtime so far, but then the experience with bsnl can vary from place to place. Ask those who live near your house about how bsnl is for them. Else, I'd say stick with airtel.
