192.168.1.100? airtel doesnt give public IP? and from ur output it seems airtel has blocked ICMP. are u able to do say traceroute to yahoo?btw didnt know ubuntu doesnt install traceroute by default

That must be internal IP given by router.

yes then may be router blocks ICMP as other guy is getting tracert responses.

i was surprised too. it had this other utility which was better than regular traceroute. MTR

pings to other sites work fine on airtel.
