Urgent ! Help With Vonage

Hi All,I am leaving to India next week and planning to take Linksys Wireless Router (WRTP54G) from vonage. Right now I dont have any internet connection in hyderabad. I heard that BSNL ranks top so planning to take that but not sure which package to take. I would be using the internet connection only to make calls to US ,may be I would use the net to check emails until my stay in India.can any one please tell me the step by step procedure to setup vonage in hyd,INDIA and also which internet connection and package I need to subscribe to make vonage work and also any other equipment i need to purchase apart from the wireless router.Thank you all in advance.

Hi, I have the same setup in Hyderabad. Using BSNL Unlimited Plus connection at 256 Kbps. Using WRTP54G router with Vonage and working absolutely fine. WRTP54G has a built in Vonge adapter and make sure you activate that by calling Vonage. This router has 2 RJ11 ports and you can plug in any normal touch tone phone.Modem's are out of stock in BSNL hyderabad. If you are buying modem also then go for westell 2200/6100.Reply if you need any help.

Seshu I really appreciate your help. I went through the links you gave but they were too confusing, most of the time the topic got diverted to some other issue.

Thanks Mr.Darcy for promptly replying to my concern. Also I wanted to know if there are any manual settings I have to make inorder to make vonage work, the links mr.seshu gave were talking about some network settings we have to change for BSNL. can you throw some light on this pls ?

Hello All, I have got a Linksys WRTP54G Router and UTSTARCOM BSNL Modem. when i first set it up i was able to connect to the internet and use the phone. but after half a day of it working it stopped and now its not connecting to the internet or the phone. your assistance is much appreciated in this matter. I am able to connect to the internet just connecting to the ADSL modem and there is no lag... once i connet the ethernet from the modem to WRTP54G and then a CAT5 from the router into the PC i am not able to connect to the internet. I have setup the PPPoe connection in the router and i am getting an Internet IP address as well on the router. I am also able to ping an internet address but not able to browse to that same address either with the IP or the actual address. Psatpathy, you mentioned that you have BSNL as well can you please let me know the settings so that i can set it up the same way? Many Thanks!

Hi,I would suggest you to buy a Vonage V phone which is USB based. the best thing is you do not have to make any adjustments. All you need is to plug in the USB drive provided by Vonage and make sure that the forewall is deactivated and it will work very good. I have the same and do not have problems.🙂
