Never upgrade TataSky unless you are 100% sure

I am writing this letter with the deepest regret of being a Tata Sky customer.I was a Tatasky Zapper box customer from the very beginning of its launch and upgraded to TataSky+(SD PVR) few months back. Fascinated with the HD PVR box, again I have upgraded to HD PVR around 20days back. But since all my family members are more addicted to the SD PVR UI/functionalities, I would like to change my box back to SD PVR(TataSKy+). When I contacted the TataSky customer support to connect back my SD PVR box, to my surprise I was told that there is no option to change the box back and TataSky allows only upgrade!!Customer care suggests me to keep it as a secondary connection and loose the monthly subscription fees (Rs 150 pm) unnecessarily. I am thinking of closing my TataSky account and finding a new vendor with better UI.never upgrade TataSky box unless you are 100 % sure.
 
I am facing the same issue...I have not checked abou the downgrade but seriously the new UI is not that good and clear with respect to the previous one...Drawbacks of new UI..1. Small Font size2. Transperent Background... which makes the reading even more difficult..3. Unnecessary waste of space by providing Tata Sky+ icon near the banner...(Why dont tatasky understand that we have purchased the STB and there is no need of advertisement there)Tatasky QA has not considered Senior citizen viewing and the UI testing on CRT and 32" LCD and LED....
 
Lol...Its not a pc where u can change the ui as per ur convenience, your demand is hideous...

I know it not a PC...

But they should have atleast provided with some settings to increase the Font Size..
 
It is true that on the arrival of Tata Sky + HD the standard PVR boxes supply have been stopped. The UI/functionalities keeps upgrading with software updates hence it is dynamic. We may sometime not like the upgraded UI but it is in best interest as it may provide additional features at times and the upgraded software is to provide more convenience to users. There is infact an added advantage of viewing channels in HD in the new HD PVR box else it has the same feature of the TataSky+(SD PVR).

Standard PVR boxes are still available in the market. And the UI/Functionalities are not upgrading from standard PVR boxes to HD PVR. The hardware itself is different and hence required the new box. Now it is upto the customer whether they need the traditional EPG(standard PVR box) or the advanced EPG in HD PVR box along with the HD features.

The issue mentioned above was TataSky doesnt allow to change the box back from HD PVR to standard PVR(more readable UI).
 

I think they are not allowing you to downgrade because of some company strategy where they plan to upgrade every user to the HD boxes. I don't remember where i read it but i guess it was in this forum only.
